1 10k mens gold ring with 5 diamonds between .84 and .95 tcw total value $1500.

first the ring is stamped g-p inside... yep you guessed it gold plated and there are even places where the plating is chipping off and the base metal is showing eye visable.

Now for the diamonds between the 5 of them .80 to .95 is likely fairly close but....
They are i1-i2 at the best with eye visible inclusions and noticably yellow.

They were given to the guy by his Dad, they had belonged to his uncle and the apprasail was done "by the trusted family jeweler" a couple weeks ago.
Makes me wonder how trusted this jewler should really be.

scary!

Hi Storm,

I would suggest having the stones tested.

I have never seen diamonds of that size in a base metal ring.

I agree Brian,
I suggested that he have it reappraised localy but he isnt going to bother its more of a keepsake than anything else.

To my none-expert eye under a loupe they looked like diamonds while the ring shows considerable wear the stones dont have abbraded crown facets that Id expect from cz or other simulants in a ring in that condition and they have too much fire to be white sapphire.
Also the inclusions look like I would expect from diamonds.

Are there simulants that have black dot inclusions (large pin points), embeded crystals and feathers?

I would be very interested in seeing another appraisal on the ring but its not going to happen.
