Hi,

Can I please get some recommendations on companies to insure my jewelry?

I don't have renters' insurance. Wondering if it's better to get that and add jewelry to my policy or to go to a company that exclusively deals with covering jewelry.

Thanks!

Hi Cherry,

www.jewelersmutual.com are pretty good, depending on what you have, you might find it preferable to go with a specialised company rather than your home insurance - check both options carefully to see what's best.

I second the recommendation for Jewelers Mutual. Going with a specialist in personal jewelry insurance has several benefits over a rider on a homeowners policy. The JM policy is by default a zero deductible (although they offer choices of deductible which lowers premium). Claims are typically handled more efficiently because everyone at the company has expertise in jewelry. And if you have a jewelry loss, it will not impact premiums on other forms of insurance you may have.
