Insurance issues?

Hello, I'm in the process of procuring a stone for an e-ring. Ergo I'm starting to think about insurance of said too.
What's the low-down here? Does it just go under your "regular" home contents insurance or do you need a dedicated policy for the ring? Depend on the company maybe?
I'd be curious to hear if there are any special things I should be looking out for from people who've been there.

Most homeowner's policies automatically cover jewelry contents up to $1,000. For anything over that you have to submit an appraisal and get what's called a "rider".

The cost is usually in the neighborhood of $15 to $18 per thousand, per year.
A $10,000 rider would cost you approximately $150 to $180 annually.
