Inspiration for a setting that delicately frames the center stone

1. I'm brainstorming ways to subtly frame a squarish cushion from the top-down view, without adding much finger coverage. I like delicate engraving but am not looking for a traditional diamond halo, nor to add the width of an average halo.

2. I am undecided between double claw prongs and bezel-set. (This is for a cushion, and I prefer round and octagonal bezel silhouettes.)

A few inspo photos attached (credits to @yennyfire, @kayla17, @CHRISTY-DANIELLE, CvB, DK, VC, and others I may have missed), of which I like elements, but haven't found "the one" yet. Any ideas and photos welcome!

Before and after, CVB did my reset. It’s a barely frame, probably not what you are looking for, but it does subtly frame the stone from the top— just barely.

Below is from Victor Barbone. Something like this with some modifications might work. You could get delicate engraving done on the metal, and still do double claw prongs.

@whitewave, I do love your asscher. And I love the split shank element. If I wasn't going for more pronounced cathedral shoulders, a collar would be right up my alley. Reminds me of this one, also CvB I think:

I'm all for a non diamond halo/frame! I have two of them! I mocked up the above idea, very crude drawing, but you get the idea.


I think you might get some inspo from Singlestone also. These are both SS, both PS'ers rings.

This is one of my all-time favorites... also SS I believe. Sans inner halo, it speaks to me. The shoulders are my favorite part. I don't remember what the side profile looks like, but I'd prefer to keep a relatively open gallery.

That's a very classic SS shoulder, I've seen variants of it on several of their designs. I really like it too! One of my faves was the deco rubelite of @Acinom. There's another one on here too, with the engraved frame on the side, also SS. I'll see if I can find them.

I especially love the one with the French cuts that we both posted. I’d been wondering how much a setting like that would cost. $$ I would imagine.

Yes, it's gorgeous! I love how the polished faux bezel adds separation between the French cuts and the center. Architectural and elegant .

aha my ring is the last one in this post! how flattering. maybe i'll post better pictures one of these days but it is really one of the most comfortable rings ive ever worn, DK did an amazing job. i just love the bezel.

I’m jealous! I absolutely love that ring. It’s so sleek and clean looking. And the miligrain and extra detailing on the band gives it the perfect delicate touch.
