My little sis is going away to school in about six weeks. All of her little nephews are going to miss her very much. I was thinking of getting her a webcam as a going away present so the kids could see her once in a while and make it feel like she''s not so far away. I know NOTHING about webcams and the more I search, the more "adult" results come up! So, I figured I''d ask the tech savvy PSers rather than have my eyeballs assaulted!
Here are my questions (and if there''s more stuff I''m not thinking of, please tell me)
1. Can one person have a webcam and the other not? None of the nephews have access to a webcam and probably won''t. My thought is she could call on the phone and then sit in front of her computer so they could see her while she talks to them, no??
2. Are certain webcams available for certain laptops or are they all interchangeable?
3. What is the avg cost of a decent but not extravagant cam?
4. What specs should it have?
5. Would she incur a cost to use it?
6. Would the dorm have a ban on them for some reason?
