So, I am currently considering asking LM to reset my 3 carater into a micropavee setting, a la HW. I don''t know if I would LOVE ("love" being the operative word) that style on my RB (although I absolutely really adore the HW cushion). So, as a less expensive "experiment" and at the same time this would satisfy my cheaper-diamond-need for travelling purposes (so far, I haven''t dared worn my 3 carater outside of S''pore, HK and Australia), I''m considering purchasing this:

http://www.fancydiamonds.net/Yellow_Diamonds/1763.htm

(for some of you lurkers out there, yes, YOU!!, don''t even THINK about grabbing this!! Besides, it''s already on hold for me, he he, so forget it!!).

I have written to them and Chavi says that it''s a deep colour, deep enough to hide the imperfections. I''m considering putting this in a ring in 18k WG, and halo''ed with yellow diamond melee, with a local jeweller who I know would not charge me more than $USD1k to do it. I''m not sure that it''ll sparkle like a diamond or whether it''ll just be dull, dull, dulll... I''ve written to ask for more pictures and with more Q''s.

If the stone turns out to be a dud, I can always return it. Of it''s not that bad, I can always turn it into a pendant.

I figure, you can go too much wrong with this kind of price. BUT, what do y''all think?

Hi Phoenix!

Hey, I spotted your 3 ct ring in another thread & meant to tell you that I LOVE it!! Amazing. :)

I did smile when you posted that link... I''m always looking at that website and having a bit of a drool.

The price isn''t shown on that green diamond, but I really like the colour of the stone!! Reminds me of the combat-style pants I love to wear in the summer... and also of gazing into a trout lake (I love fishing)!

Be good to see more pics - as you say you can''t judge the sparkle.

I love your idea for the setting - sounds gorgeous! (I''d probably have chosen pink diamonds around.. but then I''d put pink with anything!!!) I think the yellow diamonds would really enhance the green colour. :)

I say go for it, if it looks nice & sparkly... but only if we get loads of pics to admire!! :)

Thanks sooo much for replying so quickly, Cleo. I''ve been doing the same, drooling over all those gorgeous coloured diamonds. Thanks for yr kind words on my 3 carater.

They''ve just removed the price. I think it might have something to do with the fact that they''ve just put the stone on hold for me. It''s $1,350.

Chavi came back with one more pic of the stone itself (I can''t seem to attach it to this post for some reason). You still can''t really see what it''s like. But Chavi says - in response to my question, that the lustre is "medium", and "that''s the reason why the stone is so cheap"! So I guess it''s not going to knock yr socks off, but at this price, who can complain? Besides, if I really hate it, I can always return it, right?

Btw, you obviously have a great sense of aesthetics!!

. Chavi emailed me back saying that it''d be better to set it in WG with pink melee around it. I will attach the pictures he''s sent me in the subsequent posts. Thank you.

Here''s a pic of one of his other rings with pink melee halo...

Here''s another one...

Those are really pretty settings! I will have to be honest and tell you, though, that a browish, yellowish, greenish diamond that looks pretty cloudy in the picture is probably a big dud (especially at that price). I''d really prefer a nice quality colored gemstone or a simulated diamond over a very poor quality diamond.

OMG...I WANT rose gold now....

*dies*

That green diamond is fun too...but I have to agree with diamondseeker.

I''m always looking at the lovely pink sparklies on there. One day.... :)

$1350 is nothing - at that price you might as well have a look at it! Maybe if the cut isn''t great it would even be worth getting it recut at that price?

Thanks for the compliment - nice to know I wasn''t way off on the pink diamond idea! LOL!

Those settings are lovely. Although that first diamond looks like it''s had a big run-in with a whole pile of coal to me!

Have you also looked at Diamonds by Lauren? They do loads of fancy diamonds, but maybe not quite within that price range! They have an eBay shop too, which is fun. :)

Coloured diamonds. Yum.... :)

Hi Phoenix,

For the price and size I can''t blame you - it''s very tempting

However, since it is an I1 stone and I can see the I1 inclusions easily at approx. 4 o''clock, 7:30 and 10 o''clock especially, I don''t necessarily think the color will completely mask the obvious inclusion. Also, another thing is you may or may not find that the sparkle factor is disappointing once you see it, but of course we won''t know for sure until you get to see it in person. I suspect however that it won''t be that sparkly and brilliant. If the color is representative in the photo shown, I think yellow melee surrounding it would make it really pop and have a pretty contrast.

Just make sure you have enough time to return it since you are out of the US (sorry if I''m mistaken). Do you know if the stone will be shipped from the US office or Israel office? Because of a bad personal experience (but not with this specific company), I would always prefer to have it come from the US. Also, if you aren''t in the states, make sure you understand what the charges are to return it safely should you need to do so.

The first diamond ring you posted - that stone has a lot of pepper carbon even though the mounting is very attractive. And the 2nd photo, well somehow it looks photo-shopped in my opinion.

I purchased a small green diamond from them last year, and I find that the color does hide a lot of inclusions. My main concern with your stone is that it will probably have so little sparkle, it won''t be fun to wear. Sort of like the maul diamond studs that hubby bought me as a push present many years ago. I soon lost them
