Any thoughts on this diamond?

How do the inclusions affect it? Are indented naturals and naturals to be generally avoided?

wow that a fresh one - report date Tuesday 10/14/25

I Would pass on that one for many reasons....

Strike 1. the proportions are not great
Strike 2. to my eye for a G it's almost an H color...

whether or not to avoid indented naturals and naturals mostly depends on the location and size..
Strike 3. in this case on the girdle so could affect durability.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I’ve been using this online cut estimator, and I note that this diamond falls outside the Gia excellent and ags ideal proportions.

Is there a reason this is graded as Gia excellent on the cert? I am assuming that the calculator actually is accurate (which it may not be).

probably has to do with rounding... but yes it would be on the cusp of Very Good...
you are generally best off only considering diamonds that fall inside the Red AGS Ideal box/rectangle.....

you can also use stonealgo and look for over 9.0 scores... in this case you have a steep/deep so faces up smaller than 1ct and cut score 8.8

I've looked at another diamond which is rated as 9.4 on stonealgo. It appears to fall inside the AGS red ideal box. I note that in the comments, however, that "Additional clouds, pinpoints and surface graining are not shown." I understand that additional clouds and pinpoints are generally okay? But what about surface graining, how would that impact the diamond? Does stonealgo generally take into consideration these comments - presumably the tool focuses more on the numerical data when making the assessment.

Video is here:

for that one the proportions are great...

issue isn't really the graining - it's all of those plotted grade setting Clouds...

If you share your parameters, i.e. price, color, size, clarity folks here will give your the best that will fit your numbers -- also state which are the absolute most important.

I would agree with @freddyboston in essence, but would say it is the combination of clouds as grade setters, mostly centrally located, WITH the surface graining mentioned that is the concern. VS2 is usually a very safe grade, but this overall report indicates that expert physical examination is called for. Depending on how dense the clouds are and how much surface graining is present, transparency could be affected. That can take a trained eye to assess.

My thoughts are that cutters never cease to amaze me! In this case the cutter managed to keep 1.00 ct by using a combination of overly high crown angle and retaining some very large naturals.

If you were to bezel set this stone, the potential impacts of the naturals on durability would be avoided. If they are exposed however, they would represent an elevated durability risk. If in a pendant, this risk is minimized.
