In South Africa...

I'm vacationing in South Africa and have opportunity to view/buy diamond here, which would be special for either me or my son, who is close to proposing to his wonderful girlfriend. One vendor is Trevor Shaw. Any advice re: particular things to watch for here? Any reason it would be a bad idea?

In general I think it is always a bad idea unless you can see lab reports and be able to varify that the diamond you are buying is that same diamond. I personally would rather shop online for the best cut at the best price as appose to going in with an untrained idea and hoping for the best under the premise of getting a good deal. It is just too risky to me. Plus if you shop online you can get ASETS/ idealscopes, run the numbers through the HCA etc etc.
