Importing from US->Singapore, any experiences or advice?

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has imported a ring into Singapore from the States, or alternatively if any of the vendors have advice on doing so.

I'm an Aussie getting married in a couple of weeks overseas. Ordered a ring from a US vendor, but it won't arrive in Oz before I leave.

I'm thinking of having it shipped to Singapore, where I will be for a few weeks, however I have no idea about how long customs will take in Singapore, or what processes I'll need to clear it.

I had a quick google, I believe there's a US/Singapore FTA in existence, but not sure how it applies.

Any advice gladly appreciated!

I am from Singapore and I have purchased earrings, engagement ring and so on from US. So far I have no issue with custom, if it is shipped on day 1 from US (which is day 2 in SG), it will be delivered on day 4 in SG (even Saturday or Sunday if sent by Fedex). I did have to pay 7% GST but no duty needed to be paid. Hope that help.

If you send by Fedex then they will pay tax in advance for you, you will send a check for them later which include 7% of value in SGD and 10SGD advanced tax payment fee.
Forgot to mention that if your ring is less than 400SGD then it is tax free.
