I put this one on hold to purchase on Monday. Wanted to check with you all first. I love it but am worried about 4 things:

1 - It''s a "Very Good" not "Ideal" cut
2 - The gridle is thin ( it''s in the middle but still)
3 - It''s flawless except for a "chip" in the very corner - will that affect the setting?
4 - It comes up as a "2B" when ranked by Gem Appraisers

What should I do??

I am NOT an expert, but the "chip" would be a big problem for me. Hopefully, someone who knows about Princess cuts can help you out.

If you "love it" - does that mean you've seen it? The "eye test" is the most imp test of all

Re: #2, thin girdle is fine since it's not in the corners BUT #3 would be a definate deal-breaker for me... also, w that low crown, it can't be all that fiery (another deal-breaker for me).

I wonder if this is a second-selling of this stone? The chip leads me to believe it's been set before...

I, personally, would stay away from this stone. If you want to go w WF, maybe consider this 1.51 F VS2 w a better cut for a little less money.
Or, if it's eye-clean & you want the bigger size, this DCD 1.69 G SI1 seems like it might be amazing

Good luck w whatever you decide!!

Why would you buy a diamond that is chipped? I don't mean to sound sarcastic but I really don't understand?

I would stay away from this stone for several reasons:

1. The table is too large.
2. The crown is too small and doesn't fit with the pavilion angle.
3. It has a chip.

This stone, as Jennifer suggested, has most likely been set before. That means the stone might have been turned in for an upgrade, the person who had it before chipped it and got a replacement from insurance, etc. And it's DEFINITELY not worth the price! This is not going to be a stunner, and considering WF has so many GORGEOUS stones I would keep looking. I know it's discouraging to have people here tell you the diamond you selected is not up to par, but when you do get the best diamond possible it's a wonderful feeling (although it's a bit odd because tons of people will come up to you, grab your hand, and tell you they never knew a princess cut stone could be so amazing). My point is you should not rush the process. Wait for the perfect stone so you have something that will blow the majority of princesses away

Who graded a chipped stone VS1? This is not entirely out of the question but it seems unlikely. I would strongly recommend that you consult with an independent appraiser for confirmation. It can make a tremendous difference in your decision. You also describe it a otherwise flawless. If this is true you should suck it up immediately and have it recut into a F-FL, a much more valuable stone than the $11k you are being quoted. The seller surely knows this and would never have offered it to you if this was a choice so I'm suspicious of this claim as well. Are you paraphrasing for our benefit or is this something that the seller told you?

You didn't give enough information to look it up in the AGA cut chart. Do you know more or did the seller provide you with this grading?

Here is the link to the stone:

I didn't SEE the chip - but according to the GIA there is one in the top right corner.

Would our money be better spent on something a little smaller with better dimensions?

For me personally, the chip is the least of your concerns with this stone as it can be covered with a prong. I would be MUCH more worried about the table size and the crown. My advice is to drop in size or color. Seriously, if you get a "G" with an excellent cut, it will look just as white face up as this average cut "F".

Have you seen the stone? Do you love it?

GIA is a fine source for the grading. The fact that you couldn't locate it and the plotting diagram on the report would suggest that it's a fine grading. To stay in VS1 with a chip, it must be VERY small (which is why I asked about who graded it). I see a feather elsewhere in the report as well, which would explain why they didn't immediately recut it.

The report also contains the missing dimensions so you can check the AGA cut grade for yourself.
