I''m a newbie to diamonds. I went to a broker and got quoted for two round diamonds. Saw them under X10 Magnifications as well. Not sure if they are good as I can''t tell one from another. Please tell me if this is a good deal.

$4,080
0.94, G, SI1, Very Good. GIA Certify. Registry # GIA 17514353

$3,920
0.81, D, VS2, Excellent. GIA Certify. Registry # GIA 1106287936

Any tips would help.

Thanks,
ArSenic

Welcome to Pricescope,

Do you have the depth, table, crown and pavilion angles, girdle thickness, polish and symmetry grades and diameter please for each diamond?

Breann, I think you got the second stone stats wrong.

#1 62.8% depth, 60% table, 35° crown angle, 41.4° pavilion angle HCA 5.7.
#2 62.4% depth, 58% table, 35° crown angle, 41.2° pavilion angle HCA 3.8. Still quite bad though.

In case Lorelei wants the dimensions.

#1 6.19 - 6.24 x 3.90 mm
#2 5.92 - 5.97 x 3.71 mm

Any personal reason why you are sticking to higher color grade? Stones looks just as white down to G/H grade.

Thank you SC!

Arsenic, I am not loving either of these diamonds, the angle combos aren''t the best and the first diamond is too deep for my taste. Does your vendor have any others he can show you?

Ha, I did, im sorry.....forgot to change Pav. angle. Either way both stones are not as great as you would like them to be. Thanks Stone-cold11

Thank you all for responding. My vendor showed me about six diamonds and the two I listed are the two I liked best from the bunch. I also punched in the dimensions for the two diamonds and had no idea what the numbers mean. With all the input from everybody I know they are not as good as i thought. I will keep looking. I will also look at the three links Mrs. W posted. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks,
ArSenic

Good luck.

On the HCA score, just keep plugging numbers until you get ones with less than 2. Then you can take a look at them in person to decide which you like better.
