Hi everyone! I’m brand new to this forum but I am in desperate need for some help. I got too excited and made a hasty decision with my purchase. I bought this diamond for my girlfriend and thought it would be a perfect but didn’t realize until too late that it was IGI certified. Is it really that bad? On James Allen the diamond looked beautiful at 20x mag but what do I know honestly. Can anyone tell me if I got ripped off? Should I cancel my order? Any advice is greatly appreciated! My budget is $4k for the diamond.
Thank you!!

I'd be worried about the color personally.

Also as wewechew mentioned it's too deep, when a diamond is cut deep, light doesn't bounce back to you as easily as it should, making the diamond look dull in certain circumstances. I'd cancel and start over

Return then ask for our help. Not only is it graded by a secondary lab it is not cut well either.

We would be happy to help you pick out a well cut stone.

Not a good stone.

Here, try this....

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-5585855

It's 1 pt heavier, it's a little more spready, the stats are far better, the color is whiter and it scores .9 on the HCA. It's an SI1, but I can't see anything that would make it not eye clean. On the other hand, I like that it's whiter, because that you may *well* see. And by the time you include wire discount, it will be solidly under your budget. A better bet right across the board.

If you like the look of it, call JA right away and ask them to put it on hold so nobody else can pinch it out from under your nose, then ship back the one you have; it's badly cut and not a great deal.

Yes, cancel the order . That isn't a good stone and it's graded by a not good lab. We can help you find better!

Does the stone have to come from James Allen? Are you open to other vendors? Are you Canadian & like Moosehead beer? LOL It's good beer. :cool2:

Put any stone you find on hold as mrs-B said, they will get scooped up.

Thank you all so much! I’m looking into both those recommendations now. I will definitely be cancelling my order. Also, no it doesn’t have to be from James Allen, I just liked them because of how well I could view the diamond! I am open to any recommendations from any source.

Thanks again!

0.90 I VS1, 6.11 mm; tiny table and nice angles. BN won't provide an IS or ASET, but these numbers are
sufficiently solid

(0.82 CARAT J-VS2, 6.08 mm, Another good option. Solid images and HCA score. Complimentary angles. Just over budget with a bank wire

Agree w/ the others -- please reject the first stone. Can't trust IGI and even if you could, the proportions are pretty far off from where you want to be.

??? -
57 table, 62.3 depth, 36 crown, 40.6 pavilion & 80 LGF

Your description of tiny table, etc doesn't seem to match what I'm seeing on the cert. Also, in the video (and yes I know it's magnified) are you seeing the surface graining?

Showing as not available to me.

0.90 I VS2 6.16 mm

55 table, 62.3 depth, 35 crown, 40.6 pavilion & 75 LGF

Like the small table, 35/40.6 combo & 75 LGF. Should be a fiery stone. Bonus points for fat sexy arrows.

0.87 H VS2 6.15 mm

55 table, 61.6 depth, 34 crown, 40.8 pavilion & 75 LGF

Like the color bump and love the small table. I think the 55 table and 75 LGF will really help make this 34/40.8 combo come alive.

Also, spread of 6.15mm is a nice perk.

No biggie. Figured something funky happened as the text style was all weird too.

Another oddity -- notice how it broke up the quote boxes on my response back? I'm well aware how to do multi quotes or use HTML codes or the forum/BB codes. I did it right and it was still broke.

Pretty sure the glitch I mentioned is related to font changes. I did a copy and paste from another website in a different thread awhile back and used the quote codes and it separated the boxes like this. Thinking about it, had i switched to HTML mode I bet the font codes then see <p> instead of <br>. Hmmm.

You need to take them to an appraiser.

Lots of good advice on here, thank you! Unfortunatly it seems I took too long and a few of the diamonds you all suggested are already gone. I flexed my budget a little bit and found this one tonight. Any thoughts?

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/search?heirloom=true&shape=Round#diamond=R90-786786979

I think that diamond has potential. Prefer to see girdle thin to medium, and 34 crown angle is ok just starting to get shallow ... best combined with 40.9 pavilion angle but 40.8 is probably fine. Nice table and lower facet. Could go to vs clarity.

I think diamond inventories are low right now - there were more choices in the fall. You may want to wait a week or two and check your options again.
