Hello Pricescopers...

I''m a long-time lurker, first-time poster.

We are getting ready to make ''the purchase''. Our budget is around $45K for a center stone. We have narrowed our selections down quite a bit, but I still have some trepidation - it''s such a significant purchase (both in terms of cost and symbolism)!

I''m curious - if you had a $45K budget and wanted a round brilliant - what would you purchase?

Thanks for the feedback!

This: http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-71343.htm

SCREAMING numbers, H&A, *gorgeous* cut.....swoon!
Ideally...you could compare to one like this (or even that one)...not having the same pedigree...but giving you less color to be concerned about.

(edited to add...) or actually...more like one of these options from BN...compromising less on color...not losing so much on carat as otherwise available from options on the search by cut db here...

I LOVE that I... the H posted is nice too, however.

Yes, we are definitely having Leon do the setting (and the band)!

That''s a perspective that I''m not used to here on PS!

And just in case you aren''t aware, Leon doesn''t recommend his ering designs or wedding bands to be worn together. The band would be simply for wearing when the ering isn''t. I know some break this advice, but for the setting detail, I''d tend to stick with with Leon says!

HI:

I have no idea what the cost of this baby is, but I would, at least, inquire @ http://www.winkjones.com/

Sharon,

You have depressed me mightily now. That is my all-time dream combination, not too big, not too small, perfect in every way. Sigh....

I would love to know how much that baby is going for..

Sorry for the thread-jack Minou.. do you have any thoughts on the color/clarity?

something along these lines...

http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?__fun_frm=i&track=btntext_viewselect&elem=img&pid=LD01232732&filter_id=0

but with depth under 62 and a slightly less thick girdle.

not bad #'s at all though. assuming eye-clean.

or something similar size wise, but in an I SI1/eye clean stone. i like that WF stone but it's too small at 3.12.

We are currently looking at F/G color and VS2/SI1 clarity. Our first priority is cut, which has us in the 2.7 - 3.1 ct. range.
