If you could spend $10,000 on a diamond, what would YOU choose?

I''m curious about what type of diamond YOU would pick with $10,000.

I have a $12,000 budget for my ering diamond, and I''m looking for a gorgeous cushion. I love zee cushions!

Cushions are turning into quite the popular shape around here, I must say.

Since I already *have* my asscher e-ring

... I''d look for either:

*the biggest J/K-ish OEC, OMC or Transitional cut I could find (auction, antique dealer, Singlestone etc)

--or--

*a Lucida bezel set pendant (probably under .80 ct

Is this a theoretical?

I realize what I bought was modestly priced...and I might not select it again...I was looking for G VS2...but at .9 carats, for 1/3 $10K...I hate to think I can''t get much above 1.2 carats. I might shoot for a lucky SI2.

Well, considering I usually have champagne taste on a beer budget, I''d put that 10k as a down payment on my dream earrrings at Single Stone. I''d need another two payments to actually own them though!

Since I have a F colored diamond already, I'd drop the color to maximize the size and get something like this 1.537 ct I SI1 A Cut Above H&A. I'd love a large ACA!

Yep, I''d pick the biggest, most fiery OMC I could find, but, unlike Decodelighted, it would still have to face up white!

That''s just about my budget for the stone, and I''m looking for:
Oval +,- 1.6 ct
Table 55
depth 60
crown height 12%
med girdle
thin to slightly thick girdle
vg polish, symmetry
faint or no flour
f-h color
vs2-si1 clarity

Depends. Is this an ering or a RHR?

I would also go for the OEC cause I LOVE large chunky facets. Now the one I saw that I really really liked that was very very white was 83,000 USD so I''d need to find a baby to that one. 2nd time I went back someone had bought it!

And I thought I''d get to try it on many more times before it left the store.

Ideal Cut, RB, D or E, VSI or better and the biggest one I could get with those specs.

I spent ~$600 less on a 1.234 ct G VS2 ACA. I could have dropped down in color or clarity for a larger size, but these specs were spot on for me.

That budget is JUST for the diamond right? No setting or anything?

One option:

http://www.winkjones.com/specials/sa_diamonds.php the last diamond on the page... the J VS2 AGS 1 for just below 9K. Or the 1.32ct H-SI2 AGS 0. I''d probably have to see the MM difference and see them side by side to chose between them though. I''d use the rest of the money to three stone them with either fancy yellow pears or white pears. Setting by Leon Mage. If I wanted a solitaire... But probably go with the MWM flame with the diamonds in the head.

Alternately, As big a F-H SI oval (no bow tie and 1.3 ratio) as I could get for 7.5 K and spend the rest on two top color cornflower blue sapphires or top color pigeon''s blood spinel half moons for either side. Setting by Leon Mage. OR spend ALL the 10K on a bigger oval and set it east west on a thin pave band with Leon''s claw prongs. Also by Leon Mage.

OR this cushion... http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2986/ set in a thin pave band (Wire price is under 10K) depending on it''s crown height and how I liked it in person. Numbers aren''t perfect but I like that IS.

giant ideal cut rb in a sleek, modern solitaire.
