I have a feeling this is going to be a slow thread, but I'll post it anyway.

My birthday is coming up and I am looking for a pendant. I've really been enjoying my Tiffany monogram (the 3/4 inch round one) that my friend bought me, but would like something that is not silver.

Here is what I am looking for:

- White gold (or platinum)
- 18 inch chain
- not too dainty
- not those little Roberto Coin pendants
- an interesting design that isn't easily copied
- no colored gemstones

I would like something that I can wear everyday, so not over the top. I'm partial to something round (as I like that in my Tiffany Pendant) but open to whatever shape. I'm a jeans and flip flops kind of girl, so while I love ornate filagree type stuff, it isn't really me.

The kicker is that I'm open to "designer pieces" (sacrilege for a PSer!) I've looked at Tiffany, Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels and am not finding anything I Iove there.

The front runner is this one, by Carrera y Carrera. They've made some really, er, interesting stuff in the past, but make some pretty things too. I like the fact that it's simple, yet different.

ETA, and I would prefer it not have a designer NAME on it.

I honestly can't find anything that measures up to your example, TGal. Wow. That's just stunning.

Hi Tgal-

First of all, I LOVE the Carrera y Carrera pendant you posted!!!! (I also like their "Maxi" pendant)

I think the one you posted is my fave, but here are a few others I like too:

http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/carl-blackburn-jewelry/necklaces/07VV3/

http://www.kranichs.com/products/Simon-G/neckpiece-1102 (of course with all white diamonds...)

Thanks Bella! That Carl Blackburn totally caught my eye yesterday when I was on the pearlman's site, and it's cheaper than the Carrera one at the moment. I love the design, but part of me thinks it's not simple enough for me. But I also wonder if I should go more classic style...which would be the blackburn one. Do you think the Carrera mariposa one is too trendyish and young?

And YES, I LOVE the Maxi pendant....but WAY out of my price range. If I could afford it, I'd wear it every day even though it's not exactly simple and understated. I think it's beautiful! The alamar pendant is lovely too, although it looks daintier.

MP, it looks better in person too...looks like butterflies up against clouds. I love that there are two, one for mother one for child and of course diamonds are Ameila's birthstone.

But it's an awful lot of money for a teeny tiny bit of diamonds. I know, it's craftsmanship, but I haven't seen much about Carrera Y Carrera and the little that's been posted here is well...

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I'm not going to be much help, but OMG that necklace you posted is to die for. I will have major PS envy if you get it.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I am also not going to be much help, but that Carl Blackburn...

Want, waaaannnt... but I don't have the pennies to spare. Sigh.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

This is a different look, but you said "not too dainty," and I think I'm operating in a different ball park than you are when it comes to budget. I don't even know where I'd find a 3k pendant! Anyway, I've always loved this pendant, not sure how it'd look in white gold with a diamond, but figured I'd post it anyway!

For $3k, I'd start sketching and watch my own design come to life through WF, BGD, Wink, etc. like Gypsy did. Would you be up for something like that?

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I'm using this as an inspiration for a colored stone pendant but as far as I can tell, the original is still available. Downside is that the seller is in Israel, so overseas shipping. The chain is a bit short for your requirements too.

Nope. I love Gypsy's pendant, but I'm not that creative. Or maybe I am, but don't have time to devote the energy. And the only PS vendor I'd consider using for a project like that is Leon...and we all know how he is with stringent direction.

LovesVintage, that is very pretty, but I think it would lose what I like about it in white gold with a diamond.

Redrose, thanks! A little too dainty for me, but I do love that OEC simple pendant!

That is very pretty! I like how the stone looks like it's floating in there. What stone are you using for this project?

TG: I added one more from langs that I think you'll like. I don't want it to get lost in the loop though!

Thanks! It's currently a toss up between a moonstone and a blue tourmaline. I just sent both stones off to the jeweler I'm using (Peter Lees) so he can do some mockups with both.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I don't know how you feel about vintage, but have you checked Erica Grace?

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

SS, no I hadn't thought of it, so I went and checked. Nothing I like now in terms if necklaces...but there's a diamond tennis bracelet in my budget. :naughty:

Ksinger, thanks! I had already checked out Temple St. Clair (I went through the gold thread already...that one is LONG!) and like the designs...the really expensive ones of course. ;(

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

I would just do a Tiffany style solitaire bezel like the one I have. I love it and wear it every day with everything. I have a .80 stone and it looks like a 1c+ with the thin bezel.

I have a few 'fashion' diamond necklaces and honestly after 6mo or so I always feel like they are dated or a year or two later I'm like why did I buy this. I've had the bezel for...3 years now? And I still love it's classic nature.

That said, I love fashion pendants, especially diamond ... but when I get them home and put them on I always feel like it's so not me.

The problem is the bezel pendant, while pretty, is really just not me. Too delicate and dainty. You've seen my engagement right, right? ::)

VCA has a new alhambra pendant in pink gold for breast cancer...I can no longer find the pic today as they were taking preorder/reservations for it. But boy, it was purdy.

Re: If anyone would like to help me find a pendant - budget:

Love a project!! I noticed a LOT of mother of pearl & gold action in Europe last month. Butterflies aren't my thing so I probably wouldn't pick that particular piece ... but do think you're onto something trend wise. Not that you'd even care! LOL!

I have to photograph & post a new necklace my DH bought me on our trip ... its probably a Roberto Coin copy -- but its a sweet rose gold & pave diamond starfish on a thin rose gold chain that blends into my skin tone. I think you might dig something like that ... what about with white gold & black diamonds?? I'm on a black kick now. Loving onyx & diamonds together. Eh, now I'm babbling. You're thinking "statement classic piece" and I'm thinking small fashiony pieces. NEVER MIND. I'll shuts it on up now.

Can't wait to see what you pick!!

Deco, for $6500, I saw a longish, wrap around necklace in rose gold with artsy mini crosses and black and white diamonds in rose gold bezels. It was gorgeous, understated, yet packed a punch.

Post pics of your new necklace!!

I've admired this Tiffany cushion pendant. Its a bit different yet simple. The Alhambra pendant would be gorgeous -- in white or rose. Have you looked at Ylang23? (And, yeah, I'll post the necklace soon. I had a cyst removed from my shoulder and right now all neck shots would look, um, wounded. Complete with gauze pad & tape. Stitches out tomorrow!)

I love that actually! It's like a more modern take on the round circle.
