My fiance inherited a heart diamond from his mom:

It's a little bigger than my e-ring stone so I think it's at least 1.1 carats, ~SI1 and faces up very white. We decided against resetting it in my engagement ring and I'm not a fan of right hand rings for myself, so I would like to set it in a necklace. I have two main ideas for this so far:

Something like this necklace (from Tiffany) with a heart instead of the aquamarine:

A simple solitaire:

Does anyone have any thoughts on these, or any different ideas? :naughty: When I search for heart pendants it seems like it mostly just comes up with sterling silver necklaces with outlines of hearts.

I saw an idea I thought would be cute: initial necklace with a heart in the middle. I have one that is just sterling and a rose gold plated heart in the middle between my and my FI's initials but I think it could work with a sliding bezel for a heart diamond too.

This one looks like a pavé heart I think but like I said could be done with a bezel around a heart shaped diamond instead

I would like something like this, a heart within a heart, the outer heart can be plain/shiny metal or diamonds:

DK :))

I'm thinking about setting a RB this way....

I like the first necklace with the cursive initials.

Putting something else out there; this is the necklace from Swarovski I currently wear:

(Wow, it looks awful next to the diamond. It's pretty old and I actually had to glue the pieces back in once)

I'm not sure if there's a good way to replicate it with the diamond - maybe make a smaller version of it?

What about a bezel around the heart in your favorite shade of gold? I love hearts in bezels and they protect the point, too. You could either keep the bezel sleek for a more modern look or have delicate milgrain added if you like a more vintage look.

eta- I just saw that you've been wearing a bezeled heart-lol

@ashleymardigrasgirl: Thanks, it's from Amazon! 1/2 carat though. http://www.amazon.com/2carat-Heart-Diamond-Solitaire-Pendant/dp/B001B1C49C

Maybe I should order it for comparison purposes. It's definitely the nicest looking solitaire heart pendant I could find based on the photo. Though I might want to change the prongs so there's a V prong on the point and double claw prongs on the lobes (which is how it's currently set).

I like the bezel idea - it always seems like hearts lose some of their, well, heart shaped appearance, if the prongs aren't done really well. I'd rather get a rose gold bezel and really outline that pretty shape. I think it will make a really sweet and fun necklace!
