Hello,

I have been lurking here for about 3 weeks and have found an unexplainable amount of valuable information on this site. Thank you all for your help!

If possible, could someone please run a representative IdealScope based on the following info:

Wt 1.325 RBC

H color

VS2 clarity

7.12 x 7.15 x 4.3

60.3 depth

57.0 table

No fluorescence

Thin to Medium faceted girdle

No culet

Crown angle 33.5

Crown depth 14.5%

Pavilion angle 40.8

Pavilion depth 43.0%

Cut Ex

Polish Ex

Symmetry Ex

AGA 1A

HCA 0.8

GIA Cert

I have seen representative IdealScopes provided in this forum before based strictly on the numbers and was wondering if someone could help. I asked the vendor; however, they were only able to supply the GIA and Sarin reports.

Of course any additional comments are welcomed! Thanks in advance!!

I dont believe a theoretical IS image is going to help anymore than teh .8HCA is. Its based on the numbers provided, but the actual IS and symmetry images are used to find variations that may not be reported in the numbers. There is simply no subsitute for those when considering the performance of a particular diamond. At least thats my understanding...

One of our PSer''s with DiamCalc would need to run an IS program for you. I, sadly, don''t have one. Can you ask your vendor to provide one? The HCA is mainly used as a rejection tool. I would also want to see the IS on this stone.

Exactly

A modelled image can be quite misleading.

Ask for a real image if you are buying on-line / unseen, or have the stone sent to an appraiser before you pay.

Thank you all for the help. Your responses are certainly understandable.

I do have one quick question though - is the reason you strongly suggest seeing an IS or having an appraisal done before making the purchase due to the < 1 HCA score? Or is it just recommended for all stones regardless of GIA, Sarin, HCA and AGA reports (all of which documented this as an excellent/ideal cut)?

The vendor I am working with is Union Diamond and the consultant says that they cannot provide Ideal Scopes.

Thanks again and I apologize for the newb questions.

any...
it all depends on what you want, what your comfortable with and the pricing and market.
If its being sold as a premium cut in the higher price range then it needs the documentation too back it up and that includes heart images and IS/ASET.
If its being sold as a common cut at common cut prices and thats what you want a common cut then the data isnt required.
