Hi team,
I just received my ideal scope images for 3 diamonds and the gemologist was really only impressed with 1 of them, so I'll only share that 1 here. I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on it's performance before I make the purchase:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond-1511717.asp
Price: $10,400 (before PS discount)
Shape: Round
Carat Weight: 1.54
Cut: Excellent
Color: I
Clarity: SI1
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 58.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.42*7.44*4.57
Crown Angle: 35.0
Crown %: 15.00
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion %:
HCA Score: 1.7
Light Return: Very Good
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread: Very Good
Here is what the gemologist said: " I'm happy to report that diamond 1511717 (1.54crt I SI1) has great fire, brilliance, and scintillation and outperforms your other options. It faces perfectly eye clean from the top and the gemologist even stated that inclusions will not be visible to the untrained eye from the sides! This is truly fantastic news since it is much easier to see inclusions from the sides in SI1 graded diamonds. Additionally, it has an excellent cut and a true "I" color."
I am nearly ready to pull the trigger on this one, but just wanted that last nudge. Is this a good performer considering the price? Should I keep looking for potentially higher color grades as my initial preference was at least a G? I figured I may be able to sacrifice some clarity to get a better color as long as it is still eye clean. Thoughts?
