Ok....
When I began this search, I wanted a Princess.. then I wanted a radiant. Then I fell in love the with European and the Old Miner. I ALSO knew without a doubt that I did NOT want ROUND.. at all... period..nada

Then I saw the Halo Pave... with a .75 carat in a BM and it was really nice. I liked ( and yes with a round stone) THEN I saw it with a 1.17 Carat and I was really in LOVE. Unfortunately, I cannot afford over a carat and still find the pave or micropave that I want

NOW, I am looking at the round halo and perhaps a 3/4 carat.. (although grudgingly)

I suppose what I want to know is why these round diamonds are appealing in the smaller sizes. I like the BIG ones.. but I cannot afford those. But with a 3/4 carat and a halo, I may be able to live with it ( I know... I sound spoiled)

I just wanted to hear from some people who these rounds are the best for them.... you know, so I can weigh these pros and cons....

THanks again everyone!!!

Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Did I spell that right?

I am not crazy!

Mine, I had/have the same problem! I wanted a princess and that was that....then I found PS and I started liking radiants and asschers! I actually had no desire for a round at all. They just seemed too normal, not befitting to my unique taste for shape. Then, I saw the "endless love" setting with a round and I just love that. And then I saw the ever popular wedding set like Mara''s and LYnn B''s. I just love that too! Then, my whole plan on settings got revamped. Obviously the setting can make all the difference in the world.

I live in a small to medium size town and our jewelers don''t carry a wide variety of shapes. All you can really see and try on are the most popular ones like rounds, princesses, pears and marquises and EC''s. So, at first I didn''t even know they existed but then I found them on the internet and still thought, "well, I don''t really want something I can''t try on, too much trouble, blah, blah, blah..." Anyway, now PS has created a monster. My choices are unlimited and my ability to decide on one shape and setting has been completely ruined.

I also can''t seem to wean myself from PS. It''s like a drug! Not that weaning would help at this point, the damage is done......

Mine! - ME TOO! My husband told me to go ahead and start researching for our big purchase so I won''t buy on impulse and have regrets about my choice. I was only looking at Asschers. I love them! They are so clean looking, with monster flashes!

Well, I stumbled on this site about 8 months ago (DH calls it my ''diamond **** site'') and I really got hooked. I started looking at radiants in a new way after seeing some of the rings - then those princesses can knock me out! And the cushions! But wait... I KNOW I didn''t want a round (too common - everyone has one in my family) until I started seeing these phenomenal stones featured here ... now I''m LOST! I want them ALL! I think my obsession has made me delirious and I''m incapable of making a decision.

This is how I think I''ll solve it: the ring will be a square, the future earrings will be pears, the pendant will be a round... I''ll manage them all... somehow

MINE!

There is just too much to choose from. I started with an asscher. I REALLY wanted one. Then I found out that they are small for carat weight....so I went to the cushion. I was set on that. Then I thought, the RB has so much sparkly. So that''s where I stand. RB in a Leon halo setting. But if I had a million dollars.... 3 carat asscher with the pave band. I can dream can''t I???

I have always loved rounds, and when I found PS, I really started to think about cushions and asschers, but then when I saw a well cut round with the arrows...it blew me away. So someday I''ll have an asscher or a cushion for a RHR.

Carey, my thoughts exactly. The only way to solve my dilemma is to somehow manage to get them all!
I think I''ll have my princess re-set as soon as I figure out which one of the gazillion settings I want.

Then I''ll win the lottery or write a book about diamonds and addiction, get rich and buy an big asscher in a pave setting and with the royalties from my book I''ll buy a round with the Ritani Endless Love setting and then maybe I''ll consider getting a wedding set made with the eternity bands, melee, I believe? I can alternate them with current wedding set.

Sounds like a plan indeed......

Thank God, I'm not going insane!
Thank you ladies, I thought I was the only one feeling this way!
I too really wanted something unique and special, and thought rounds were blah!
I knew an EC was out, my mother has an EC and has always thought it didn't have enough Ooomph! I wanted a princess, then a Jubilee, and then a Ideal Square H&As, and then a Cushion. With all the info I've gleaned from PS I keep coming back to Ideal rounds for all their wonderful qualities (Spread, Sparkle, Precise Cut.) I looked at one at Shreve Crump and Low that was literally mezmerizing.

Who knew a decision like this would be so HARD! I mean it's a diamond they are all pretty, right?

I think deciding on a setting is going to be even harder!

I also love asschers/square emerald cut and Emerald cut''s but I went with the round. I love rounds - they are so brilliant and fiery when well cut. It was the shape that looked best on my finger. As well, I found in the fancies I needed a much bigger stone in order to get the same width as a lower carat round. It saved a ton of money.

I will always love the emerald cuts (regular and square) but the round was just right for me.

HEE HEE HEE ... I suppose that we are up the same creek together. My man gave me a free reign.. (with a budget

) but this means my indecisiveness will continue to hang me up...LOL... I too wanted something until I can to pricescope... Now I have ''diamond envy'' LOL.

I have learned AMAZING things on this site though and I am so glad that I found it.. Now, if I could just leave it for a few hours...

I did not want rounds because they were soooo....... normal....... I leave in a smaller town too and all they have are the princess and the rounds in all the shops... I am still in love with the cushion though. But I think that MF is goingt o start getting scared because he is going to wonder how fickle I am going to be about major decisions in our marriage... (kidding)

I would love to hear anyones support for rounds and support for other shapes. Besides... it is nice when you realize that you are part of a group madness and not alone..LOL

oh, god, i''m there with you! we''re the INDECISIVES! sounds like a good name for a band!

one of my considerations at this point is that anything with corners...or lots of corners...is going to be harder to set and more vulnerable to ''accidents''. so i''m getting practical again in considering the round....

there are so many days that i wish i just could go out and buy something, anything and be done with this....but i can''t: i''m hooked on the diamond and color stone ****.

peace, movie zombie

Someone once wrote about their engagement ring, "It is like a slice of perfection on my hand."

Although your diamond may not be a d, if, to me the well cut round w/hearts and arrows etc...is just simply perfect.

And I grew up with Emerald cuts. Very hard to find enough, let alone enough good ones and I''m in a major metropolitan area.

So to me its like and icon. I think the halo enhances the iconoclastic nature of rounds, especially for a small stone.
