Hello,
I am still trying to understand the whole concept of ideal scope cut. Please kindly help.
Say, if I have an IDEAL round diamond, with all the measurements fall within ideal cut range -
Depth = between 60.9 - 62 %
Table = between 55 -57 %
Crown height = between 34 - 34.5
polish/symmetry = EX
AGA grade: 1A cut
HCA score is between 0.5 and 1.2
Can one surely say that this diamond will have lots of fire and a very brilliant diamond?
Or is there any other factors that I should consider also?

Please advise. And many thanks in advance !

Well, the 34 to 34.5 is crown angle......and you need a corresponding pavilion angle (40.6 to 40.9 is the tightest range).

And yes, stones that bear these parameters can reasonably be expected to have lots of fire and brilliance. Of course, you still need to see for yourself to make sure the numbers bear out. There are a few instances of diamonds with great numbers like this that don't perform well, but they are few and far between.

Thank you for the reply.

I just purchased the following diamond online, and by reading many sources, I'm not 100% sure if this is one of the best qualities out there - Please kindly advise.
(The problem is I don't have any other diamonds to compare with...and I'm not too sure what to expect when I view the diamond in a low light condition)

1.51c - GIA (Ideal cut)
E color, VS2
7.41x7.44x4.51 mm (is this a well proportioned diameter?)
Depth : 60.7 %
Table : 57 %
Crown angle = 34 Crown % = 14.7
Pav angle = 40.8 Pav % = 43
Symmetry & Polish = EX
Girdle : Medium, faceted
Culet & Fluor : NONE
HCA = 1 (Excellent, except for the Spread = VG)

I notice the crown angle is less than 34.5 -- will it make it less brilliant ?

Also, the Sarin report shows AGS 000. Can I say that this diamond is H&A ?

Please advise. Thanks!

The stone looks beautiful from what you described....yes, the diameter is right on the money.

Don't worry about the 34 crown angle....it's got a great complimentary angle in 40.8 pavilion. This diamond is a 1A on the AGA chart - it just doesn't get any better than that!

Yes, the diamond is AGS0, but it may or may not be H&A. Most well-cut diamonds do exhibit some form of hearts/arrows pattern, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a "true" H&A. That would depend on the pattern - the crispness, uniformity, lack of clefts, etc.

It doesn't have to have this to be a real winner, though, and it sounds as though this diamond is just that....a real winner! Nice find.

The stone sounds absolutely beautiful. If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost?
