I'd Just Like To Say Sorry.

I'd just like to say sorry about all the commotion myself and one other person caused in another thread. It was not my intent to have it end that way. But one gets pushed, so I pushed back. I never had the intention of giving out her information, though I made it sound that way.

This does not make it right through but let me assure everyone here I was a trade member for many years, one that many knew here or knew of and bought from. Also let me assure everyone here I would not give the name and address of any member here or any customer that was mine. It is not only against the rules here but against my principles as a retired professional. Confidentiality is a must in business.

Let me assure everyone here my intent was only to be helpful by using my knowledge and experience to help others with certain questions here the last few years. I hope I did accomplish that.

If I am to be removed, then so be it, I have no one to blame but myself for letting myself succumb to anger, something I’m not proud of but it does happen and did.

Really all I wanted to say.

This is rather a non apology. Like when someone says “I’m sorry you took offence.” It was sad to see this kind of engagement on PS, for no good reason really. You both had valid perspectives. I actually had a lot of support for your points on the thread in question, and feel much the same myself about “local” labs.

Your eventual reactions however were uncalled for. This “apology” is really just a continued attempt at justification for disappointing behaviour from a person who should have the age and maturity to behave better. What you’re saying here is “sorry I did what I did but really it was someone else’s fault because I was provoked” - which frankly isn’t sorry at all.

This whole thing makes me sad. It isn’t the culture of PS which I’ve come to love over the years. I often enjoy your contributions Fred and I hope you continue to participate in the right way as you have a lot of value to add.

Well, I like both @fredflintstone and @Autumn in New England and understand that internet exchanges can easily get heated up. Don't be too hard on yourself Fred.

HOWEVER, if you really feel bad about this all, you can apologise to ME as a representative of all PS'ers by gifting me with a large unheated pigeon red ruby. I also accept spinels, rubellites, purple garnets, emeralds, sphenes and pink sapphires and a bunch of other stones. Don't hold back, I welcome all and any restitution you may wish to make in the form of gemstones.

It seems someone else beat me to reporting this post. Threatening to dox me when he couldn't "win" with facts or proof, wasn't even the worst part of what he did. He then falsely claimed he sold me a gem. That lie (of many he told in "the" thread) unsettled me more than anything. Nevertheless, at the very least, he should have a trade moniker next to his name. He claims he wants to stay anonymous out of respect for past employers and colleagues. I'll leave it to all of the intelligent folks here to decide if that makes sense. Ella said she was going to temporarily suspend his account. I think it should be permanent.

I take responsibility for protracting the discussion, but I can't take responsibility for his grossly exaggerated, unstable response. And I stand by everything I said. My only regret is that it negatively affected the PS community, which I care about so deeply.

Bless your heart for trying to lighten the mood. I mean that, truly. ❤️ But I promise you there is nothing funny about whatever issue is going on here. And this wasn't the first time he and I had a problem either, as you may recall. The last time, he had plenty of insults to sling because he didn't like that I related an unpleasant buying experience (the details of which he knew nothing about) with a different seller. Or maybe the reason he was so upset was because he was secretly that seller? We won't know, because fred continues to hide his trade status.

Thank you! I'm already looking into it. As another poster mentioned, this "apology" was just another sad attempt to get the last word. He is the only person here I've ever had an issue with in 11 years (the same can't be said for him, and he joined in 2020). It's never seemed on the level to me, which is why I refuse to back down with him. The unfortunate part of that is, while I'm sincerely trying to help the PS community, I might actually be partaking in hurting it. And that's what I regret. It must be obvious what a great affinity I have for PS members. I hope it is.

Well I don't know all the ins and outs of the situation, but I'm sorry to see you upset.

I've noticed myself that sometimes internet disagreement stresses me out a lot more than real life ones... perhaps it doesn't help that what each party said is available for both to read and re-read over and again, reinforcing the bad feelings.

In any case, I think the issues you metion are better taken up offline.

My thoughts as well; if you are confident in what you're saying, you should be able to say it openly with your own credentials as a registered trade member to back you. I don't see why a trade member either current or former needs to hide behind an anonymous screen name.
