Ok, this is a really weird issue. About a month ago I was with my boyfriend and by the end of the night my eye was all watery and weird. I woke up the next morning with pink eye. I took the normal eye drops and it went away. We are long distance and didn''t see each other for 11 days. The next time I saw him I woke up the next morning with pink eye again. Then it went away.... Well this has now happened like 4 times. I get better, see him, and it comes back.

He has not had it and no one I spend time with has gotten it from me. I''ve washed all of my linens, thrown away way too many pairs of contacts, tubes of mascara, etc... And it keeps coming back. But only when I see him! We don''t see each other in the same place every time and I know he has excellent hygiene. Anyone know what the deal is? I''m going to the doc tomorrow, but I wondered if any of you knew!

Did you go to the Dr. and get diagnosed each time or just take otc drops?

Perhaps an allergy to something he''s wearing? Detergent or something? (I''m guessing here)

The first time I went to the doc and it was pink eye. I still have the prescription drops from that first visit.

I''ve never had an allergic reaction to anything like that before. Also, I have allergies and this is far different than how my eyes are when they are allergy-irritated.

Haha it''s soooo weird and kind of funny. If only it weren''t getting to be expensive throwing everything away!

It sounds like the viral type, with the watery eyes. Ask your doc if your guy could possibly be a carrier of the virus that causes this. (assuming it's Pink Eye again)

I will ask indeed. Thanks for the help ladies.

Although this is incredibly annoying and somewhat painful, it has provided me with many jokes for the new bf!

lol

Do let us know what he says, I''m curious now!

You could also try bringing your own pillow.

One would think that even if your bf is a carrier, you''d be resistant given the number of times you''ve been infected.

Definitely sounds like an allergy. Do you get it when you've just been out with him, and haven't been to his house? That might help narrow things down. Does he or anyone he lives with smoke?

Also, do you tend to overwear your contact lenses when you're with him? (ie keep them in later than you'd normally take them out). I used to do this with a previous boyfriend, and wondered why I always had super dry eyes the day after a date!

ETA: Putting my doctor hat on, you wouldn't be repeatedly infected with exactly the same conjunctival virus - your body would develop resistance to the strain after the first time.

The *most important* thing to remember is to NOT touch your eyes without washing them first!!! You may just be reinfecting yourself. After my sons contracted it, I washed down the door knobs and handles multiple times per day.

(doesn''t it take a few days for pink eye to develop after contact? If you hadn''t seen him and it came back the next day, then it could be something else, such as an allergy to a detergent he is using!)

I do hope you go to your eye doctor again. Iritis is another inflammation and redness of the eye that differs from conjunctivitis and can have some serious side effects.

Also, because conjunctivitis is most often spread by touch, I would suggest your bf also get checked. Some people can develop an infection with very few symptoms so he may not know he has it.

I went to the doctor... and apparently I am hiiiiiiiiiighly susceptible to pink eye. After going through his books I have had it 8 times in the last 1.5 years. (Am I five years old?)

He thinks that maybe there is just something that hasn''t been cleaned or that the bf could have underlying symptoms of it. He is going to the doctor tomorrow.

I got some more eye drops and a new can of lysol! Thanks for the help ladies1

Wow, you've had it quite a bit! Let us know what you find out.

And I'd also get a cannister of disinfecting wipes and go to town on your place, and the car, and anything/anywhere else you frequent. And have boyfriend do the same.
