The subject of my post describes exactly what's on my ring. Long story, but last night at a party, my hand bumped into a cake with a ton of icing and it got all over my ering and eternity band. I immediately went to the bathroom and washed my rings and hand with the soap that was available, but there's definitely still remnants (like a filmy layer) of the icing around the prongs. I can't get to my jeweler until tomorrow when I will have it professionally cleaned, but should I try cleaning it again with a toothbrush & soap? I don't have any ammonia or recommended cleaning products, nor do I have a soft toothbrush (just medium)...does any of that matter? Can I just use bar soap and the brush that I have? Also, will the jeweler be able to get all the gunk out with a professional cleaning? I've been fretting about this since last night!

haha, ya, bar soap should be ok. Warm water and soap. Should get the icing out.

Leon Mege recommends dish liquid and a toothbrush.

Mix some Dawn dishwashing detergent and warm water and let your ring soak. Hopefully, that will take alot of the icing out. Probably not a bad idea to invest in a soft toothbrush and some Mr. Clean too - you never know when you might run into a cake again (or any number of greasy things for that matter)!

Is your ring platinum?
If it was platinum what would you suggest?
