Yesterday, I went to the GIA Gem Trade Laboratory to have my loose diamond examined. I wanted the GIA to confirm that the stone was the same as described in the report. The examination process and confirmation letter took about five hours, and cost $ 89.00. It was a small price to pay for complete piece of mind and a memorable field trip to the GIA headquarters in Carlsbad, California.
I only regret not knowing beforehand that they now require you call in advance to make an appointment to walk thorough the GIA museum.
Regardless, I still had an outstanding time.
