 Figures DF, that you have to turn the tables.

Is your first question designed to make me cry? ;(

Just kidding - turning the big 4-0 this year and looking forward to it. The ring project I'm currently working on is to mark the event...although I'll probably get it when I'm 39, but that's fine by me!

No, I was born in Korea but immigrated when I was 9 months old. My greencard was back when they were actually green, and it had the silliest freaked out looking baby pic on it. I was really loathe to give it up when I became a citizen in my 20s because those cards did not have to be renewed so I had the same GC all my life. Pretty funny when I had to show it to prove residency when I started looking for work.

I am in sales for a big company, and my husband is in IT (telecommunications) in the finance industry. When he first came to this country, he considered himself a "blue collar" working because he was a telephone technician (not the kind that climbs up poles, but more going to business and setting up phones stuff). He got laid off right when we found out I was pregnant and I helped him in the job search. I found a listing for him and he said "I'm not qualified for that." I said "Well, then they won't call you for an interview, don't worry about it. Doesn't hurt to apply." He got the job and really is amazed at the opportunity that this country provides. Now he goes to work in dress clothes and is quite impressed by his "white collar" job. :rodent: (Anyway, this white collar/blue collar stuff is is own insecurity...when we met and things got serious, he worried he wasn't "good enough" for me. )

Yes, one daughter - a combination of America+Australia = Amelia. She will be our only.

My husband has started to appreciate the finer things in life. He saw my watch and didn't protest when I wanted to buy him a watch of his own for his 40th. Other than that, he only wears his tungsten wedding band. But he's quite opinionated now when it comes to jewelry for me, because he's seen a lot here and definitely has what he likes and dislikes. I think while he doesn't wear any bling, he secretly now enjoys looking at it, because I never have to force him to go into Fourtane with me. :sun:

Anyway, DF, you still have a lot of questions you are avoiding in your own thread, mister!

I am liberal for a lot of reasons. Why are you conservative?

Yes they are liberals, but I can think for myself, so I'm not a liberal because they are. If I followed everything my parents did, I'd be Catholic too, but I'm definitely not Catholic!

Question for T-Gal, what countries have you taken Amelia to in her 4 yrs of life? Are you hoping she also has your love for traveling?

The only flights she's been on is to Australia (twice), and Hawaii (once, and I know, it's not a country!)

I tended not to travel with her early or take her on vacations...since for me, the definition of a vacation is time AWAY from the child. TGuy and I are going to Europe late this summer and we think it will be the last time we travel internationally without her, so we'll start at some point in the not too distant future.

And of course! I hope she wants to see the world and gain valuable experience and insight. But I won't be paying for it, so she'll have to fund her own travel (except for the trips we take her on, of course. But if she wants to backpack around after college or whatever, that will be on her dime.)
