I trained him young: I told him many many years ago when we were about 20, that these were the rules: You can get me anything for Christmas, pot, pans, practical items, whatever. But birthday had best be something totally frivolous - jewelry, perfume, that sort of thing...

He immediately gave me a POT for my next birthday. (Of course it had a bottle of perfume IN it. He''s just ornery, not stupid.)

He has been true to form this year and just gave me the 3 loose pearls I asked for for a pendant/earring set that I am going to have made up. I''m pretty pumped. GOOD DH!!!! Biscuit!!!

LOL! Good rules! I got a crock pot for my 23rd b-day, but I had been dying for one and was really excited, plus SO was BROKE. But he very sweetly offered to make any crockpot dish that I wanted for my b-day, and he made the BEST CURRY EVER! It was out of this world, and has never been duplicated. Mmmmm....

That sounds wonderful! I recently bought some new white earrings, but I have my mind set on some black ones similar in size to yours.
