Hello again, :wavey:

You may recall my last post about whether or not I should keep this 4ct M I1 RB diamond https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/4-ct-m-i1-rb-to-keep-or-not-to-keep.211290/. Although a beautiful stone, I ended up returning it with the hopes of finding an OEC. Well, the day has come much sooner than expected. I found an OEC with similar specs, 4.4 ct M I1. I am definitely leaning toward keeping this one, but am hoping for some input from PS. Pics below...

(making an appearance in several photos is my 1.6ct L VS2 AVR OEC, finger size 3 – which I love and am not replacing/upgrading)

HI:

Notwithstanding the nicks on the girdle, would the grade making inclusions represent a challenge/problem for setting?

cheers--Sharon

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for your reply! The inclusions do not pose any difficulty with setting. While they are visible with my zoomed-in pics, they are not as obvious in person. I do not know the history of the diamond but was told by the seller that it is over 100 years old. The nicks on the girdle do not bother me. To me, they are part of the history of the diamond. I am thinking of a bezel setting to help protect it from further damage.

So after much back and forth, my husband and I have decided to keep this diamond. I wish the photos conveyed how nice it looks in person.

So next is deciding on a setting. Ideally, I would love to have a bezel with tapered french cuts, like LGK's seen here: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...et-my-3-39-ct-oec-tapered-french-cuts.158320/. But, that is not in the budget at this time. I am looking to get a temporary setting from Stuller. I need some help deciding which one would be best. My concerns are having a large stone and small finger could cause the ring to look very "bulky" in the cathedral/shoulder area like the pic below. Please help me pick out a setting! I am looking for rose gold with at least 6 prongs.

This is what I do NOT want:

Here are the settings I am considering:

Any thoughts or opinions for which would be a good option? Thanks in advance! =)

I would do the second or the sixth setting you are showing. There are more prongs on these to protect the girdle and to cover up the inclusions around the edge of the stone. Just my opinion. :wavey:

All very pretty but I really like the 6th, 1st and 3rd (in that order)!

6 is one of my favorite solitaire settings in existence.
