hello ,

I am new to this site, but have seen so many get valuable help I figured I would give it a shot.

After looking at more than 50 stones, ranging form D E F to Light fancy, fancy yellow I finally made a purchase... but I think I made a mistake.. Can someone please help me..

I bought a Natural fancy light yellow, with even distribution, no Flor. the clarity is VVS2 polish Very good symetry Good. The diamond is a 2.6 carat squarish radiant cut. 68 deep. 66 table.. it measures 7.75 X 7.19 X 4.90 mm. Not too big in appearence. The diamonds color is NOT a deep deep yellow. It is lighter BUT the diamond is VERY brilliant and Fiery.. More so than MANY/ALL of the white stones, ranging in the E, F range were so it caught my eye. I paid $15000 for the diamond... Now I see at some reputable on line diamond exchanged, light fancys in the 3 to 3.5 range with MUCH larger dimensions coming in at the same price. Its not too late... I dont have the dciamond in hand and can make an adjustment. Can someone please help guide me so I am not taken advantage of... I can really use your help

Hmm, I don't know much about fancy colors..What color is the stone exactly? It does sound like a nice cut though. Where did you buy it?

Fancy cuts have to be seen, you cannot tell from a report if it is going to be a beautiful diamond.

You mentioned yourself, that you looked at 50 some diamonds, before the beauty of the light yellow diamond caught your eye.

You could just as well order in 50 internet light fancy yellow diamonds and they as well may not compare in beauty to the diamond in question.

Some fancy lights will have an almost electric , neon like dazzling brilliance that is like you said much more brilliant than even a colorless diamond.

Sounds like a nice diamond and a little buyers remorse (very normal).

I think the important question is, does she like the diamond?

Chris,

Take it to a local independent appraiser and pay for an opinion. Fancy diamonds are pretty complicated business and the difference between 'deep deep yellow' and 'deep yellow' can be terribly important. There is an link at the top of the page that will help you to find an appraiser in your community.

Brian's question is critical. Does she like the stone? Does she love it?

Sounds like a lot to me.

Who graded it? Did it come with a GIA lab report?
