I think I found the stone I want, but is the price right?

Hi there,

I've been lurking on these forums for a while now and learning as much as possible over the last few weeks in order to arm myself with some good knowledge while I went hunting for the perfect stone. These forum's have been amazingly informative and I think I would be lost in my search without them! I think I've found the stone I want and I think the price is good, but I'd like to hear thoughts from others.
I'm looking at a round brilliant stone with the following characteristics:

Shape and Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.20 - 6.24 x 3.86 mm
Cut Grade: AGS Ideal 0
Color Grade: AGS 1.5 (G)
Clarity Grade: AGS 4 (VS2)
Carat Weight 0.922
Fluorescence: Negligible
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Table: 55.3%
Crown Angle: 35.0
Crown Height: 15.6%
Girdle: Faceted, 1.9% to 4.1%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
Pavilion Depth: 43.1%
Star Length: 48%
Lower Girdle Length: 75%
Total Depth: 62.1%
Culet: Pointed

If I remember the term correctly, I believe it is an AGS Triple Ideal diamond. I've attached an image of what inclusions are present (from the AGS report). There seems to be an extra facet on the right, some feathers to the left and a few other things.I'm being quoted approximately 5200$ US for the loose stone and basically I'd like to hear what others think of the price (I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off). I should add that this is a Canadian mined and cut stone, so there might be a bit of a price premium, which I'm ok with. Also, I put the numbers into the HCA calculated and the stone received a score of 1.6 , with everything being
excellent, except spread, which was very good.

Thank you so much for any input!

numbers look 'nice', if the stone has the DQD w/ light performance report the ray tracing simulation is added reassurance

have you seen it in person, and do you like it?

Is the price already including taxes?
If so, within your diamond's excellent parameters, I guess the price is right.
I seached for similar diamonds and the price seems good.

Can you do better?
Maybe.

If you have the time, do a research of similar diamonds at Whiteflash, James Allen, Blue Nile, ...and other online vendors before taking a decision.

If I was interested, I 'd ask for the complete certificate and the Ideal Scope images...anyway, my suggestion was to do an online research before buying.

Re: I think I found the stone I want, but is the price right

From what I've learned here, you pay a premium on AGS as well as Canadian diamonds. From the stats, it's similar to a diamond that I'm planning to buy except that mine is SI2 and is GIA triple excellent. I'm paying $3500 for that. You can decide whether the price difference is worth it.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I actually do have the entire AGS pdf report but I figured I'd just crop and paste a zoomed in image and ask if the extra facet is anything to be concerned but I've uploaded the report if anyone would like a look. I am fully willing to pay the premium for it to be a Canadian stone as we are both from Canada and I know this is something she's always wanted.

HCA results:
Selected: 62.1% depth, 55.3% table, 35° crown angle, 40.8° pavilion angle
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.6 - Excellent within TIC range

Your diamond is an excellent performer...plus, if you know it's important for your girlfriend to have a Canadian stone, go for it: it's an emotional value that goes beyond the monetary value.
