Hi Magnolia

As far as can be told without images, the diamond looks promising. Just to clarify, when you say buy it now price, is the ring for sale directly from Blue Nile or is it with an online auction?

it is a re-sale, online auction. the ring was originally purchased on BlueNile.
there are pictures - and they look fine, sparkly - through this auction i learnt that pics don't mean much without the numbers... so if the numbers look good... :)
i don't think i can get those red images that show lickage and such...
thank you!

ditto Lorelei.

Ah - glad I caught that. They want 15k for a secondary market ring? Thats not that far from actual selling cost, I personally wouldn't pay that. It is usual to only expect to recoup around 30 - 50% of the price you paid, the asking price is much too high to me, I would rather buy from a trusted vendor with all the protection and benefits offered than from a private party from an online auction at that price. What is the setting like, what metal and does it contain diamonds?

For example, here is a stone which is of top cut quality with images provided and various vendor benefits etc at 17k thereabouts.

Have you looked at any of the trusted online vendors for your purchase?

$15000 is buy it now option, but the starting bid is at $10000 - so far there are no bids.
I wouldn't buy it for $15000 - as you said i logged on to BlueNile and it is pretty close to the actual sale price.

simple 6 prong setting, no diamonds on the side.

I wouldnt pay that. You are taking on some risk. You deserve a markdown that justifies the risk you are taking.

even at $10k it may not be a good deal if the stone is damage. (i.e...chiped girdle)
