Hi everyone,

I don''t post much, but I think I decided on a dress and wanted to get opinions. I hate shopping, so hunting for the dress was not my cup-of-tea. However, I went to just about every dress shop in my area, so I think I gave it a very good effort. I tried on tons of dresses and, surprisingly, most looked pretty good.
I think I have made my decision: Casablanca 1832. http://www.casablancabridal.com/Products/Detail.asp?ModelNo=1832&Cat=Fall+Collection&SubCat=2006
The train on this dress is longer than I originally wanted, but the material is fairly light so I don''t seem to notice or mind the weight of the train, even when it is bustled. The dress is from their Fall 2006 collection, so perhaps this is why I have not been able to find any other pictures of the dress except for the one posted on the Casablanca website. (A Knot search turned up nothing.) The website pic and the dress I tried on are the ivory color with pink and silver accents. The pink is subtle, but I''m not sure how I feel about having color in my dress. I would love to see what the ivory/ivory dress looks like, but cannot find a pic. I''m worried that it would not photograph well ....
What do you think?

Here is the dress on the model.

Here is a front shot of me in the dress. (Note that it is a few sizes too big ... I think it was an 8, and I''m probably going to order a 4. You''ll see that it is clipped in the back in a future picture.)

Here is one from the side that shows the train.

Bodice details ...

One cool thing about the Casablanca dresses is that they come with the bustle. Here is what it looks like bustled:

I love it! I think it will look amazing when you have it in the right size. I can''t see the pink in it right now. I think the ivory on ivory will photograph a lot like the one you tried on. Congrats on picking a dress!

And here is one from my first trip to the shop to try on the dress (please ignore the bra

). During that visit, the person helping me didn''t realize that the dress actually had a ''double bustle'', so she only did the lower one. I actually think I like it better this way.

Hi there,
Love the dress- it looks so good on you too.

I understand your concern on the ivory/ivory dress not showing up as well. But it seems like it would still have the texture/pattern that would show up.
personally, i love the silver accents, and the color (pink?) is so very subtle, you wouldn''t be locked into that for an accent color or anything unless you wanted.

Perhaps you could call around other shops in your area to see if they have the ivory/ivory or even a swatch of what that might look like?

Robbie,

Thanks! The pink really is subtle -- I think it is just the flowers that have this subtle light pink color. The other embroidery accents are in ivory. Ugh -- it''s just another decision I have to make!!!

In addition to coming with the bustle, another cool thing about Casablanca is that they let you order the dress in the right length for no extra cost (i.e. I don''t have to pay for a hem when the dress comes in). That''s great -- but it means I have to figure out my shoes now, before the dress can be ordered. More shopping

My wedding is in May, so don''t have tons of time (the shop said it would take about 3.5 months to get the dress in after ordering).

the dress looks great on you. I haveto say I do not see the pink at all, so if you are worried about color, I wouldn''t!! But I think overall ivory usu give a softer look, that goes better w/most complexions....

Labbie & flopkins --

Thanks for the compliments! The pink color really is subtle, so I probably shouldn''t worry too much. My friend that was with me agreed that the color was subtle, and she actually liked it (and she usually wouldn''t like color in wedding dresses either) because it gave the dress a bit of an antique look/feel. Sort of romantic, I guess. I do like the silver in the accents, which I would be giving up if I got the ivory/ivory.

No other shops in my city carry the dress

, and I just do not have the time or desire to travel for any more dress shopping. I did email Casablanca today to see if they have any pictures of the ivory/ivory dress and if it would be possible to get a swatch. No response yet, but we''ll see ...

It looks beautiful on you! Congrats!

WOW! For not liking to shop, you did fantastic. That dress is gorgeous. I love the detail and the train.

CONGRATS!

I think this dress is very beautiful. I actually like a little color in a wedding gown. I loove the detailing on this dress.

Gorgeous! Love it and it looks great on you! Congratulations!

Ooh, I love the partial bustle. It''s so pretty, and not all bunched up. You look awesome in it!!

The dress is very pretty and I had to agree with others that I can''t see the pink at all. Are you considering get the ivory/ivory one instead?

oooh! I love that dress! I''ve never seen it before (Now that I''m an old married lady I''m not nearly as much of a dress nerd...) but i really like it..And I like the hint of color on the dress.

A word of caution though. I know you said you like the single bustle better, but since its designed to have the double, that bustle is hanging too low.. If you were going to go with the single, you''d have to get it adjusted upward.. But, once the dress is in your size and its tied properly (that double in the first shot is NOT adjusted properly or not tied tight enough or something) you might be able to get a better idea.

Aw, thanks for all of the compliments. I am still considering the ivory/ivory. We''ll see if Casablanca can at least provide pictures or maybe even a swatch of the ivory/ivory dress. However, I am glad lots of people agree that the pink is subtle ... I am not a light pink person, but I still think the dress is pretty. We''ll see.....

Darn, PS just ate my reply!

Any way, thanks for the advice, MelissaSue. You''re right, the double bustle is not done correctly. The lady said that the top one didn''t go through all of the fabric (either a manufacturer error, or it happened because it is a sample dress), so at least the last layer of fabric is not ''caught''. The double bustle ''should'' lay much better when that is fixed. I realize that the single bustle would probably have to be adjusted a bit if I go with it, depending on how low it is when it is in my length. I just like the simplicity of it (and the non-bunching).

Thanks all!
