Good one Harriet! I am very curious...hopefully she won''t keep us guessing for too long

I hope she doesn''t mind but I would love to know more. She is so kind!

She is! We''ll understand if she wants to protect her privacy, right?

Hi, girls! No, I don't mind posting here at all! Thanks for thinking of me, Harriet! (You're sweet, Skippy, thanks!)

PS history: I came on PS at the beginning of 2006 because my hubby said I could get a diamond ring for our next anniversary, at the end of the year! Since I am a researcher, I started on it then so I'd have almost a year! I needed it, too! Haha! Around July I found my stone at GOG, and I then deliberated awhile on settings. Not really being certain of what my dream setting would be, I opted for a plain solitaire and diamond band so I could at least wear my diamond! And I am still looking at settings and am favoring either a Tiffany repro and collect real Tiffany bands OR there is a beautiful Van Craeynest set I love, but I need to be sure I could give up the plain solitaire forever! (I'd like both, actually!) My hubby also bought me 1.5 ctw. ACA diamond studs for my birthday/Christmas present, and I found the perfect pair in early January. So those have been my biggest projects since starting on PS!

About me: I live in NC in a small town. Life here is slower paced (although I am so busy most of the time that it doesn't feel slow paced!), and we are an hour and a half from mountains and 4 hours from the beach. We travel to both a few times a year. We have three kids, two just finishing college (son and daughter), and our youngest will be in 6th grade. She was adopted from China when she was just under 6 months old, and she has been a joy! My wonderful husband (who I met in college) has a stressful management job and works a lot. We have two dogs and two cats officially, but we have a new baby stray cat who came about a week ago that seems to think she is ours!

I teach children with dyslexia and learning disabilities part-time and have a master's in special ed. I do some private reading evaluations and tutoring on the side when I have time. I am also involved in our church. Pricescope and forums, etc. related to dyslexia/learning disabilities are my hobbies. So I guess you can say I don't exactly have an exciting life, but things are good, and I am very thankful!

I should add that I have been in and out of town all summer and leave again for 4 days next week. On top of that, I have some home improvement projects underway, so that is why I am not on here as much as usual!

DS, thanks for sharing! Your life sounds like a fulfilling and happy one. Good for you!

Thank you, Harriet!

After reading your thread, I thought I post some favorite foods, since I like food a LOT, too!

Main dishes: fresh seafood, filet mignon and shrimp

Other: all pasta and potatoes...naturally!

Sweets: cheesecake, key lime pie, chocolate

Travel: the only places out of the US that I have been were to France for 8 weeks when I was starting college (long ago!), and to China for 2 weeks when we adopted our daughter. Most of our travel is closer to home.

DS,
I love that you feel blessed; I feel the same way. You sound like you have a good heart!

I love that you adopted a baby! You sound like a wonderful mom! Are you in Ashville? You don''t have to answer. I love Ashville and that area, it is so beautiful!

Thank you, Skippy! I could not have imagined what a blessing that baby would be to us! I would have done it earlier had I known so that we could have done it again!

I am an hour and a half from Asheville, and we love that area! That is probably where MrsS and I will meet once she moves to her new home in a few weeks. Back in January I posted in Hangout about my visit to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. There are just some great places to visit nearby!

I remember now; you brought back a good memory to me of that time (in that thread)! I told you I went one Christmas and loved the Biltmore because all the fireplaces were roaring and they were singing christmas carols. It is so beautiful out there!

How fun that you and MrsS get to meet!!!

Thanks for sharing DS! I think it''s great that you adopted a baby girl from from China and you teach children with dyslexia and learning disabilities! Your life sounds very fulfilling!

DS is one of the few people that know how difficult my own setting decision has been. For those of you who have read my threads, DS has gotten emails with settings and quesions that never made it to PS. I can''t wait to meet up though and am hopeful that it will be soon and we will both have our permanent settings

DS,
So glad you shared a bit about yourself. You are such a bright sunny presence on PS. Love that you are a teacher for special ed kids, and wow, 2 kids in college?? Having one, just floors me!! I can''t wait to see your new setting. And good luck with the remodeling, we are in the same boat!!!

DS, you are a lovely person to read about. You are just where you should be, doing what you should be doing. You lead a wonderful life, and you contribute so much. I am also so glad that you are fulfilled, makes it all the more special. I am happy that you have your daughter, or else you would be empty nesters and that would be tough, I am dreading my FIRST going away and still would have two more at home! Remodeling while fun is also a stressor to many, so be sure and know that it is okay to get stressed out at some point. Hubby and I have remodeled three homes, two of them quite extensively, built a third from the ground up and are about to build a new home again. Yes, I am insane. But I know we will have some tough moments in the process, but at the end of the day it should all be worth it.

Skippy...that''s right, you made me think I need to visit Biltmore during the holidays! I am sure it was beautiful!

Snlee, thank you so much!

MrsS, I have more confidence that you''ll have your permanent setting than me! But at least my diamond is wearable!

Kaleigh, aww, thanks so much! Our older kids had more overlap of college than they should have because our son took some time off and changed schools a couple of times. I think he is on track now, thankfully! We''ll be glad to get them both graduated and employed in the next year, hopefully!!! This summer will be a little crazy because I am working on my kitchen while we also have to help our daughter find a condo or small house to buy (or apartment if all else fails). Life is never boring, is it?!

DF, thank you for your kind words! You are right that we are very fortunate to have our youngest daughter since the older two are close to being on their own. I really do treasure my time with her since the time flew so quickly with the other two. I should say that we have had our trials in case my story sounded too rosy. Our son has some anxiety and related issues that have made life difficult at times. But you just have to have hope and love them through the hard times. And gosh, we built this house 19 years ago, and I''d love to have a new house now! But building is such a full-time job that I''d have to drastically reduce my schedule to do it! Plus I''d have to get this house in shape to sell, and then it might look so good I might want to keep it! Lol! But I am very excited for you to be planning a new home! It is very hard work, but as you said, it''ll be SO worth it in the end! We do look keep our eyes open for property but haven''t found the perfect land yet. If we find it, we''ll buy it and build when we have time.

DS I am frankly not too big on these "who''s who" threads, but it was nice to read more about you. You have been a real asset to this forum and I have enjoyed our camaraderie since you joined. We have SO much in common I wish you lived closer as it would be great to meet in person. Anyway I hope that you find your dream setting!!!

I''d really love to meet you, too, Sundial! I hope someday we can do that! I appreciate your very kind comments. I did hesitate before posting so much since it would identify me to people who know me, but hopefully I haven''t said anything on here that would get me into trouble! I do not get on PS at all from work, so that would be the main problem I can think of.

MrsS and I know that the main reason we are indecisive on settings is that there is more than one beautiful choice!!! I still love the classic Tiffany setting with diamond band and know that never, ever goes out of style. And I recently looked at an antique Van Craeynest setting that I thought was the prettiest setting I have ever seen, but I am slightly afraid that I might miss the plain solitaire look. The only solution is to have more than one set

, but I also need a new car, and the house is at the point of needing to be redone, so I can''t quite justify another wedding set so soon! Lol!

Ds, I totally am with you. My 14 year old has tourettes and ocd, and was diagnosed in 4 grade, a little over 4 years ago. It has not been an easy road, things can be tough for him and he struggled, but ended middle school with the most incredible report card. He did this ALL ON HIS OWN. I did not help him, he became very self sufficient and organized. He is also popular, plays a mean guitar, runs track and cross country and has an amazing heart. But there were some amazingly tough times too. We have my 5 year old, which I am so thrilled about because we will not be empty nesters for a long while!

We built the house we live in about 7 years ago, this is the longest in our 17 year marriage that we have lived in one place. We are on an acre and while the house is large, we just felt like we needed more land and wanted some things to be different. We just bought, after looking for about 3 years very seriously, some land about 5 miles from where we live now. It has a home on it but we are planning to build a new home. Have started with interview architects, it is good but I know will be at least a 2 year project which is a bit daunting. Funniest coincidence is it is even closer to Kaleigh, and she knew the family and went to the home many times years ago. It is such a small world. My dh and I looked at tons of homes and land and got very dismayed, but in the end it all worked out so nicely. It will for you too. All things in time, and when you sort of least expect them to, the stars all align.

DS, I''m jealous of Mrssalvo!

Oh, I''m sorry, Harriet! MrsS is right that I rarely check this forum!

My summer has been a whirlwind! We''ve been in and out of town all summer. We just helped our daughter buy her first little house! The contract was accepted today! I was working on my kitchen, but that has been put on the back burner (no pun intended!) because I simply haven''t had time to work on it! I''ve also been looking for a new car. I''m running out of time before school starts back. Now we''ll be working on furniture for our daughter''s house and getting her moved. Life stays busy around here!

I hardly check this forum either but I wanted to add that DS is just as sweet in real life as she is on here. And her diamond is amazing! J, I am so glad we talked you into going a little bigger! Hope school is going well. Your students are lucky to have you!

Aww, thank you for your kind words, S! I am glad y''all talked me into my diamond, too! I really was lucky to get it!

I almost called you Friday to meet me for lunch (and maybe a little jewelry shopping!), but I decided I just didn''t have time to go to Charlotte! How many more weeks before baby comes? Maybe we can do it before then!

Do you have a link to your ring? I would love to see it!!! I love your part of the country

You sound like such a wonderful person.

Have you been out to Savannah? I read that you love seafood; I had Low Country Boil recently and it was wonderful

You lucky lady; I bet you get the freshest seafood; dang I need to live closer to the water. hehe
