i am looking at buying a stone on line and have found that i can get a better deal than i would in a shop, the only difference been that i cant see the stone as i will be getting it mounted in the USA. i am dealing with a company called Diamond Source of Viginia, they seem good as they are answering all my questions and i have whittled it down to 2 stones that i cant decide between, can anyone tell me firstly if these stones are any good and what i should expect...

#1 - RD, 1.51 carat, GIA cert, F color, VS2 clarity, price $13,008, depth 61.7 %, table 57 %, measurements 7.33 x 7.39 x 4.54 mm, EX EX N [Excellent GIA cut grade, Excellent HCA 1.4]

#2 - RD, 1.54 carat, GIA cert, F color, VS2 clarity, price $13,419, depth 60.4 %, table 57 %, measurements 7.46 x 7.51 x 4.52 mm, EX V GN[Excellent GIA cut grade, Excellent HCA rating 0.6, laser inscribed with GIA number]

please let me know your thoughts
Thank you

Welcome!

We need the crown and pavilion angles for each please ( the angles you entered for the HCA to get the score) plus the star and lower girdle facet percentages would be good to have too, this info will be on the grading reports.

Also an Idealscope image for each, especially the second diamond looking at the HCA score would be very useful too if you can get them, ask the vendor if they can supply these images then if so, post them here.

What are the values used for the input on the HCA?

i do have all the images, how do i post them?

regards

Looks good. Which one is this set of images from?

The images look good, which belong to which diamond please?

This one is from the 1.51c

here is a statment that i have been sent from the guy im buying it from

Your diamond (1.51 carat Round F VS2 GIA 2115104341) arrived this morning and it is beautiful. It checks out fine with the certification in terms of carat weight and measurements.

1) Color is judged to be F color as was graded by GIA

2) No fluorescence visible under ultra-violet light

3) Clarity is judged to be VS2 as was graded by GIA. Diamond is clean to the eye when viewed from the top (how industry grades clarity) and when viewed from the sides. Cloud that is located just below the girdle is the most visible inclusion from the side under 10x magnification but is not visible to the unaided eye.

4) Nice uniform girdle shows no visible durability issues. There are several small feathers around the girdle but these are small, wispy, and faint.

5) Bright facet pattern with lots of fire and sparkle

6) Nice Hearts & Arrows pattern (see photos below)

This is a beautiful round diamond and will make a gorgeous ring.

Has anyone heard of Diamond Source of Virginia? Can someone please comment on the prices for the stones posted? They appear to be SIGNIFICANTLY less than prices for similar stones from Pricescope vendors. Also, what is the typical mark-up charges by the Pricescope vendors?

how does this look to you,

As consumers we can get a decent idea of whether a diamond is going to be a good performer by images mainly as we do not have direct access to many diamonds in person, however your images look good.
