I need opinions please! For those who have read about the ordeal I have endured trying to get a diamond set, then I need your opinions on having it reset once again. The link with pics of my ring after 3 setting attempts, is here:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/any-recommendations-for-a-setting-for-my-1-76-c-diamond.67705/

Now..my husband went into the store to talk to the owner, and they agreed to have the diamond reset once again, if we pay for it this time (that is fine, just want it done right, so I can wear it). It''s a 1.76 carat round diamond, and the white gold setting is a simple 4mm wide cathedral mout. I have three options for the head (prongs). try one more time with the twin prong setting (split claws), or go with the 4 prong solstice head,http://www.stuller.com/products/product.aspx?gid=b5c935bb-34ba-4211-ace6-9867e5fc7dae&cid=bbc2271b-f979-44a8-b8cb-a8ef62a1e16a or a standard 4 prong head like this one...http://www.stuller.com/products/product.aspx?s=401
I am not sure which will make the diamond stand out best, I would like to be able to see most of the diamond, almost right down to the pavilion when looking at the ring from the side. I don''t want the prongs to overpower the diamond, and I''m worried that the solstice might look to thick or bulky, as the twin prongs on my ring do right now. They can try to taper them a bit like the first time I received the ring, but not too much. After three attempts with the twin prong head from Stuller, I am SOOOO worried they will mess it up again. If I knew for sure they would come out resembling Leon Mege type claws I would go for it. Is the standard 4 prong head kind of boring? What would you had to set that size diamond into a simple cathedral mount? Thanks

You should ask Leon if he could make the head for you. His work is very difficult so you might have him do it for you if that is the look you would like. He is well respected. Best wishes

If you are paying for the new head this time, I believe I''d try another jeweler.

ditto. is there any way you can just wait until you can ship it to someone in the US. Didn''t your jeweler already mess it up twice?

Thanks for the input...I refuse to send my ring to the US...I am sure there must be some talented diamond setters here in Canada. I will give the setter one more chance...with a basic 4 prong head, rather than the split prongs again. I just think he was inexperienced using the twin prongs, trying to carve and taper the prongs to look like the Leon mege claws. I believe it is simply not strong enough to be set like that on a large diamond. After looking at the split prong ring in this post : nhttps://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-friends-new-1-5ct-engagement-ring.68298/ I realized I don't really like the look of twin prongs that look bulky, and untapered. If they were done like the "claws" he created on the first attempt with my ring, then YES, they resembled a Leon Mege piece. I want the diamond to get noticed, NOT just prongs/gold! I think with a simple 4 prong head, my large diamond will get the attention, and nobody will even be looking at the prongs..really! Thanks for your help!

Beau - I missed your other post with the third setting attempt! Oy!

I think no matter what those dual prongs are just not going to be what you want unless they''re the Leons (as you mentioned yourself), so it''s probably the best idea to stick with standard single prongs. I''m so sorry you''ve had to have them done so many times!

Hope it all comes out ok for you this time!
