I picked up a pair of 1ct emerald cut aquamarines that I''d like to mount on stud-type earrings, but with a thin halo of accent diamonds.
These will be a wedding gift to my fiance, to match her aqua and diamond engagement ring.
Any ideas on where to start?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on your budget... but I LOVE Leon''s earring halos and jackets.

Some here have gotten jackets from Whiteflash, I believe. They don''t have any for ECs on the site, but I''m sure you could get a quote.

EC aquamarines with a diamond halo earrings?! WOW... those are going to be stunning!!!

Something like these green amethyst earrings would be gorgeous with aquamarines!

ETA: The ring attached to the gemstone part that hooks onto the hoop, I have seen those set with diamonds too for a more finished look.

I''d check with WhiteFlash because the price would probably be more reasonable. The martini settings and jackets someone had made by Leon was $3000. So you''d likely be looking at that much or more to go that route. You can save by having these made in 18k white gold, and I see nothing wrong with that, especially for earrings.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check WF and see what I can come up with.
They appear to be an almost asscher cut, but without much windmilling.

By the way, here's some info and a (bad) pic of the aqua's:

Natural Aquamarine

Okay, I have found a few settings that I think would look nice. How about some opinions on what you guys would pick of the following earring settings. Keep in mind that the gem would be the aqua listed above, so ignore the amethyst and topa colors as they would be subbed with the aqua and just focus on the settings.

Thanks !

Sera,
Do you mind me asking where you found those at? They are also very nice!

My vote goes to setting #2, hands down. And here's something to think about, and one reason why I picked those, besides the fact I love them. I have a pair of Aqua emerald cut earrings (basket set), although mine are elongated, so the problem wouldn't be quite as pronounced with these square cuts. They tend to move/turn on the ear lobe, therefore they aren't "lined up" the way they should be and it personally drives me nuts, not sure how your gal would feel about it.

I like 2 because they are elegant and classy, can be worn for casual or dress up. The fact that they can move/dangle from the jump ring is an added plus. This will allow the stone to catch the light and flash back some sparkle. I think round stones are all right for stud as they will always be aligned on the ears but this is trickier with cushions. One will be pointing NS while the other might be skewed NE/SW.

To be honest I hadn''t really thought about that so I''m glad you both brought it up. I also think that the dangle settings are probably a bit more versatile.

Good stuff!
