I have read that some posters don''t find them appealing or dependable. Is this true? My gf is very interested in this shape, so I am focusing much of my diligence in this area. Some words of advice would be appreciated!
Radiants are very hard to find and really need to be seen and compared to be appreciated. They are not necessarily the same cut from one to the next. When I was searching for mine, I saw everything from Emerald cuts with a few extra facets, to Princess cuts with clipped corners all being marketed as Radiant cuts. The Radiant cut I like looks like cracked ice and to my eye is very pretty and unusual because of its shape. You may want to check this link to find out more about Radiants, this site represents the original Radiant cut. Maybe you can find a jeweler that sells this brand near you so that you can see and compare them. You REALLY need to see and compare them! The bottom line is that for Radiant cuts, and many other fancy cuts, your eyes will tell you which is THE one for you.
You need to determine whether you like the square Radiant look or the more rectangular look. It is a matter of preference, both are very beautiful. This site has a "fancy shape selector" page that you can play around with to get an idea of what shape you prefer.
Your focused diligence will pay off in your search, just be patient!!
Good luck!
