I like this setting but is it sturdy enough?

I've purchased a 1.01 ct round diamond and now I'm looking at platinum solitaires. I like this one but I'm concerned about its sturdiness. It looks rather thin on top (12 o'clock position) I also like the X prong but the one I like by vatche is about $1000 and this one is $475 and I like it'd looks. Do you experts have an opinion on this? The pic is attached on the post below.

Do you have a picture?? That may help give us an idea of what you''re looking for...

Woops! here is the pic of the one I'm concerned about. Platinum-$475

I like this setting! It''s clean and classic. I don''t know about the quality of the setting itself, but if it''s in platinum, then the metal will be sturdy enough to hold the setting. The key is to find a jeweler who will be able to secure the stone in the setting properly the first time to minimize the chance that the stone will loosen...

Beautiful setting!

This is a Whiteflash setting right?

I would not have any concerns about the quality of their rings, but if you are worried, give them a call or email them and ask!!

Thanks . Yes it is Whiteflash. It is a very nice looking ring. Whatever I choose I'll have it mounted at the jewler recommended by the appraiser which I've selected.

I''d like more womens opinions on this ring. What do you think?

Hi Dave, I think the setting you have chosen is very classic and elegant. It''s hard not to like it as it is traditional yet contemporary. I also agree that there would be no problem with the setting''s durability and sturdiness.

At $475, it''s good value and I can''t imagine anyone actually disliking the setting at all, it''s very pretty. If your girlfriend decides she really doesn''t like it, you could upgrade the setting later on. However, if the setting cost thousands of dollars then I''d probably suggest you cast the element of suprise aside and ask your girlfriend to choose her dream setting, since we can be a picky bunch!

I think you''ve made a good choice.

Thanks,
I guess my real concern is how it looks. It's a little narrow on top(12 oclock) where the peg is mounted. Will people even notice this with a 1 ct stone on top?

Does it being narrow on top affect the overall comfort?
I really do like this ring, just a litte anal about things!

I think it is lovely. I would not worry about it being too thin at all. If you are worried about your GF not liking it, you can always get a super inexpensive solitare setting and then the 2 of you can pick something out together afterwards. That''s what my husband did for me.
