Hi Everyone, :wavey:
This is the diamond, that I bought. :appl:

Im trying to find the best solitaire setting, to complement the diamond.

The size of my gf is 4.

What do you recommend 4 or 6 prong? and why? I don´t know wich one to use..

Thanks for the help! :))

Hi Alfredovima :wavey:

Personally, I like a 6 prong. I like how it accentuates the roundness. I like the security of the extra prongs. I like that it makes the diamond appear larger due to forcing the eye all the way around, as opposed to just the four corners of a 4 prong.

Do you know what she prefers?

I wouldn't ruin the surprise by asking her since the two options are so similar.

Just think, is she more classic? Romantic? Does she like churches, old architecture, classic cars, Europe? Does she love Audrey Hepburn?

Or, is she more modern, more sporty? Does she like modern art? New cars? Simple designs? Is she more practical than romantic?

Without meeting her I can say that #1 is your six-prong girl, #2 is your four prong girl. Generally speaking. If you're going to choose six-prong the one in the link is fine. But if you're leaning 4-prong, don't buy James Allen's - that setting is ugly. Look for a more elegant design. Something almost the same but with more refined lines.

My preference is for 4 prongs to show off that nice stone. Less metal more stone!

Also, if you doing custom work, you can ask for smaller tips on the prongs (4 or 6) to make it less prong-y.

Agree though that if you go 4, don't pick that one linked above...

WWhich settings are you considering specifically?

James Allen has a lot of lovely 4prong settings and I see no reason why you couldn't pick one from there. And if you went six prong their hand forged Tiffany repro is really lovely

:wavey: Thanks!

The funny thing is, I don't think we even knew about the Vatche U-113 back then, which is what I currently have as well as several other members here!

Here's the thread from when I first got that setting (later reset a different stone):

I am sorry, but I just don't agree with that. :)) I have had both 4 and 6 prong settings and both are classic and appeal to people who don't want ornate settings!

Aside from my current 6 prong setting I just posted, my daughter has the Vatche Caroline which is 4 prong...still classic and lovely!

Oh, is the diamond still at James Allen and you want to choose a setting from them? Sorry if I misunderstood.

I personally like four prong settings....
