...which proved consistent today, when out of nowhere a Giant Tire of Doom appeared, travelling at about 40mph, and demolished the passenger side of my Mazda RX8. The tire came from somewhere atop a hill nearby. A good number of people were boggling over said giant tire, and my squashed car. I thought my husband was kidding me when he came into my work and said. "Um. A huge tire just took out our car." No joke.
There's this huge tire track all down the side of the RX8! It's the most surreal looking thing ever. At least it seems like there's no frame damage, just a door, the side mirror and some panels to replace.
I've never been in an accident. Yet, while my cars have been parked, they've had many unpleasant adventures over the last 12 years:
-had my '87 Hyundai's driver's side badly dented, by a taxi
-had my '97 Geo Prism's passenger side caved in within the first week I owned it by a taxi, $2k of damage
-had my Geo's passenger side caved in again, by a taxi, the week after I got it fixed from the first damage by said taxi
-had my Geo's passenger side absolutely wiped out, and had to have a friend sledgehammer the door until it opened again, by a car with weird light turquoise paint- this was like four panels worth of damage, but it drove with a bit of fender scraping. Didn't get it fixed, this time, since it was a POS
-had the driver's side of the Geo demolished a month later, again by the same car with light turquoise paint, and strewn across two blocks. Total loss, the insurance adjuster took one look at it and handed me a check for it. No idea how the other car drove away.
-had our 2000 Honda's passenger mirror knocked off and the passenger door dented
-had the RX8 keyed within an inch of it's life by an 8 year old, had to have most of the car repainted, the month we bought it.
-and now, the aforementioned Giant Tire of Doom
And let's don't forget the break-ins:
-had my husband's '97 Saturn broken into four times (with the radio stolen each time), with window smashed each time, three times in three weeks in quick succession, then once much later
-had my husband's Honda broken into four times (with the window smashed and radio stolen each time), with the grand finale being the last time, when the thief ripped the entire dashboard out and tried to (very incompetently) hotwire it, but instead destroyed the electrical system and killed it dead (and it's never been fully functional).
Never once had anyone leave me a note, after hitting my car, either.
Just had to gripe... is it just me? Anybody else have wretched luck with cars?
