So, tonight, FI and I met with the parents to discuss all things wedding and we have decided on September in South America for our EPP (our new acronym for eloping plus parents). Yay!

Now, I need a dress. So far I have tried on a few, and I have found a couple that I love. However, every time I go to a boutique and tell them my budget, the sales reps have immediately gone to only show me dresses at the highest end of my budget. This has started to frustrate me, and made me want to shrink my budget (or at least say I am to see what is out there). So, my question now is, have you seen this dress (or anything in a similar silhouette) for a lower price? It is the Augusta Jones Chenoa and it $2800. I am including the link here, because I can''t get a pic of the full silhouette large enough. But here is a closeup of the top:

And a wee little pic of the full silhouette:

Oh, and sorry for the two-topic post. I am excited about figuring out some details, but I am also having some dress-selection drama. But, I didn''t want to make two posts. Thanks for reading!

Thanks, Blackpaw! We think it is a great idea, too.

Right now, the clear frontrunner is Ecuador. But, we are also still considering Chile and Argentina. South America is just so beautiful! We are hoping to figure that out this week.

There is this one from Watters... it''s probably $1000-$1500

Ok not sure why that last pic didn't work.

ETA: *sigh*... it looks better unpixelated

Yay for picking a month and a continent, Katamari! I''m so pleased for you and your EPP ... sounds as though that will be perfect for you guys with a lot less drama than is often the case with weddings.

I love your dress selection. It is just so pretty with a great sense of understated style! Gorgeous. I hope you find something similar for a little less. I''m sure that one of our PS bridal gown research gurus will be able to find something ... Looks like oobiecoo is hot on the trail. I love what she found you as well.

I hear that Argentina is beautiful and really affordable with amazing food. If you guys haven''t decided on exactly where yet, you may want to research there more ... It could be fabulous. I''m just not sure what season it would be down there at that time ... Spring, maybe? That may be a consideration for you. I always get screwed up with that far down south stuff ... I went to Zimbabwe in August and thought that it would be hot ... It''s Africa, right? Wrong! It was so super cold at night because so far south they actually do have seasons and can get quite chilly.

That dress kind of reminds me of the wedding dress in 27 Dresses ("Reese" by Amsale)

Thanks so much, oobie! I actually haven't been to a salon that carries Watters yet, which I thought was weird because I know they are a really big bridal brand. And, this one is really my style!

Argentina would be divine! We are looking into it because the Patagonia region is so beautiful and FI and I looove Argentinian wines. Zimbabwe sounds awesome! But, that is actually why we ruled out Mauritius. We thought it would be a tropical paradise (with similar thinking about Africa) and found it it would be too cool. A cooler Argentina would be good, though, because it is more than just beaches (as I am sure Zimbabwe was) with all the beautiful mountains.

That is funny that you say that, because my bridal rep was talking about how someone ordered the Chenoa and customized it so that it looked just like the 27 Dresses Dress because that actual dress was out of their price range. It is beautiful!

Ooh - your plans sound like so much fun

Sorry I can''t be more help with the dress, but it sounds like you are in good hands here - I love your ideas

Hello! Just joined this forum a few minutes ago after seeing this post. I love, love, love, love, love (did I say love?) the Chenoa. I tried it on today (gorgeous! - and on me that is hard to do! :) ) and have been rationalizing the (US) $1700 it costs! Especially since I saw another dress for $250 (I would have to *settle* ... errrggh!) Why do all the good looking dresses have to be so expensive?

I''m interested in anything similar as well.

i tried on that Augusta Jones dress and it was only 2100 dollars, so maybe you could shop around a bit.....hope that helps.

I''m a total wedding planning novice but I just wanted to say that dress is really lovely! Hope you either get that or something similar in your budget.

I LOVE that dress! I''m so glad you posted this-I''m totally going to try it on! I really love the Reese by Amsale and this does remind me of it! GORGEOUS! I say go for it, especially if you can find it for less by shopping around!
