Since my bf and I gotten engaged on New Year''s Eve I have been busy looking for a pair of ~1.ctw emerald cut side stones to make a 3-stone engagement ring. It is incredible how hard it is to find a nice pair of MATCHING stones. I have seen two pairs that were so wrong: one pair was not matching in proportion, and one pair was too white in color (our stone is H in color).

WHY is it so difficult to find perfectly matchy side stones of this modest size?

Dose anyone here have recommendation on how to go about finding an online dealer specializing in well-cut side EC diamonds?

THANKS!!!

I''d call Goodoldgold and let Jon match them...

The added burden of matching two or more diamonds pretty much means you will need an expert to assist you. Put yourself in the hands of one of the well known good guys on Pricescope and relax. Enjoy the process rather than become upset. The best vendors know how to make it happen. It isn''t easy, but they will make it seem much easier to you.

Upon a online research, given my center stone measurement of 7.30 * 5.05, I am hoping to use these two, OR

I had the same battle in making my Asscher 3 stone. First, I would find a great center stone, but no sides. Then I would find sides, but the center would not work. Luckily, it all came together in the end.

I agree, some help from GOG would go a long way....

Honestly, posting number for ECs won''t help much. They are a difficult cut to shop for and even though two ECs may have similar numbers, they could look much different. This is something I would leave up to a trusted jeweler.

I wouldn''t try to find a match yourself. I would have the jeweler you work with find a match for you. GOG, WF, leon, knoxjeweler.biz should all be able to find you a nicely matched set of EC''s and make you a lovely setting!

The thing is, I would like to have a local platinum person to build my ring as I like the convenience of having local life time care of the ring. However what they have sourced for me so far are not ideal, and pricing is way higher than what I can source myself online.

Could you try to help me pick a pair based on numbers?

I''d still have GOG or another trusted vendor act as your eyes and choose the stones, then ship them to you for you to give to your local jeweler for the setting.
