Hello, I am setting up a jewelry and gemstone business and the SBA.gov site suggested searching for business mentoring from someone in the field through a professional organization. I need helping to make sure I am doing the business things right, especially with the legal stuff and it would be awesome to have a few people I could ask professional questions, as all my self-learning is coming from videos on Youtube, no money for formal education. I am interested in learning to set my own gems, working with precious metal wire and clay and setting gems into the designs. I would be so appreciative for a list of the best sources to buy what I need at the best prices, including gems and especially gem beads and ideas about how/where to sell. I presently have a bunch of jewelry I bought to resell, as well as gemstones, hoping I could have some income from those while I am learning to make my own and help me pay for more tools, silver and settings, so maybe you have some suggestions about selling those. Just to let you know a bit about me, I was a registered nurse until a series of injuries and accidents, one near fatal that put me in a coma for 8 days, left me disabled, both physically and mentally, too, due to the brain injury. My husband of 26 years left and my home was foreclosed on(SSDI isn't much as I only worked part-time, while raising my children) So, long story short, I decided I wanted to get involved with gemstones, which I was already interested in, which led me to learning about jewelry and jewelry making techniques. The interactions/communications can be all online(e-mail or Facebook), by phone or even in person, if you live reasonably close...whatever you are comfortable with. WOW, how cool it would be to learn by watching you work at your store or home business...sort of like apprenticing. I live in New Port Richey, Florida, which is north west of Tampa. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
