Hello, I''ve been looking for an OEC and looked at a couple of sites that PS suggested. I am probably going to go with oldworlddiamonds, but I have one question. Today I looked at OEC''s on faycullen.com and every single one of them is I for clarity? Is there something about OEC''s that makes the clarity not as important? Thanks all, K

No, clarity is still important for any diamond.

However, that being said, there are some very eye-clean SI2 diamonds, but make sure the vendor says it''s eye-clean per your specifications.

Faycullen is not exactly known for being the best vendor for proper representations of their products, however some people have been happy with their purchase.

I highly suggest www.jewelsbyericagrace.com they have several OECs on sale right now. And I''ve seen their diamonds in person .. and they are GORGEOUS! But Old World Diamonds are also recommended from this forum :D

Happy Hunting

I''d steer clear of FC if for no other reason than their awful return policy- basically, they charge a steep resocking fee, among other issues. I think that clarity is even more important for OECs than for RBs, the chunkier facets make inclusions a bit easier to see, IMHO.

OWD is a good source, so is Jewels by Erica Grace, and SingleStone. JBEG hand picks their stones, so it''s a good guess theirs are all good performers. OWD has a large virtual list, but takes longer to weed through. Adam, the owner of OWD, can be helpful to weed through the inventory though. With antique diamonds, it is very important to have a good return policy; so many are not as lovely as they could be, and you need to judge in person. I have purchased some on eBay too, if the vendor is reputable and has good feedback & a return policy- still, not for the faint of heart!

Good luck!

It''s simple, most of what FC stocks isn''t nearly as nice as they try to claim...

It depends on how much you trust the eyes who are looking at it for you. I bought this cushion pendant from JBEG which is an I1, something I''d never do on my own, because I trust them to choose beautiful stones. I''m really fussy about clarity and not so much about color. You can get some good I clarity stones but my suspicion is most of them you''d want to take a pass.

2nd. I'd never ever buy from FC! Horrible return policy, restocking fee, etc.

Hey TG

I'm sure you have that beauty by now, do you plan on starting an SMTR thread? I for one would love to see it !
(If you're not keen on doing a whole thread, you're welcome to add pics to my one with my OEC pendant

I'' have a Van Craeynest in the works with a 1.30 transitional and when that''s done, I''ll lay all the booty from this year out on the table and take pictures. I went from nothing to Diamond Lil in one year and I blame it all on discovering this site.
