I have been holding out a little. I received an e-ring and it is so pretty. I am not very good with the camera and have not taken any pictures. But I really need some help with this. I apllogize that there are no pictures. It is from blue nile and is their 18k White Gold 2.5mm Comfort-Fit Solitaire Setting. I thoughtI wanted the european shank on it. So I went to a jewler. I am new in town not someone that I knew and he said square the bottom when I was asking for the European shank, I asked if this would make it more comfortable, and not not spin as much as I heard these shanks do. So he said he would talk to the jewler about this, shaving it down to make the shank thinner and I needed it smaller. The next thing I know he comes out and says the jewler is squaring the bottom as we speak. I get my ring back. I really don''t like it much, I think that because it is comfort fit it does nothing to stop the spinning because the inside of the ring is still curved plus I wished we could have talked before the jewler did it. Also the ring still seems too big and the squared bottom is unequal. I am not assertive and very nonconfrontational so I did not say anything. I am so scared my fiancee is going to hate it too. I feel like it all happened so fast. I am going to cry. My huge question is can it go back to the round pretty ring I had before easily or will we have to get a new setting? Thanks for the help. Leslie

I probably won''t be much help with the shank questions, etc., but I feel for you and wanted to send hugs your way!

It will all work out.

I would think that it can be changed back! But you need to know that an e-ring does not spin as much once you wear a wedding band with it. Also, it sounds like maybe it was just too big. My rings fit well and do not spin at all. If you are unhappy, I''d certainly have it changed back.

Sorry for the problem you are having with your ering. Have it repaired back to the way it was and I recommend you ask the jewelrer whether they use sizing balls. They are just two little balls of gold sautered on the inside of the ring to keep it in place so it doesn''t spin.

Good luck my dear and don''t worry, your ring can be fixed.

Cheers!

I would have it fixed but by a different jeweler! Not one who just starts working on your ring without your consent. You should be able to have it downsized a size or two with no problems as well.

Thanks so much to everyone. I feel a bit better. I think that I will feel all the way better when it is back to normal. I also am noticing the 18 carat white gold now has a yellow cast or tone what happened? Can this be fixed? Thanks again.

it stinks that they did this without asking you and did it poorly. Sounds like they did not rhodium plate it after the did the shank changes (this is why it is yellowish now). The rhodium plating can be fixed easily and cheaply, but you should not have to pay as you did not request the work in the first place (if I understood your post correctly!) I would go back there, stand up for yourself, tell them you did not ask for the squared shank and want it undone and want your ring rhodium plated at no charge - simply to return it to the state it was when you went in there. If you have any doubts as to the integrity of the jeweler or their quality of work, go somewhere else that you trust even if you have to pay - will be worth it!
