Hi! As the subject states, I am looking to sell a loose diamond with the following characterisics:

Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.22 - 6.25 X 3.78 MM.
Weight: 0.91 carats
Depth 60.6%
Table 64%
Girdle: Medium to Very Thick, Faceted
Culet: None
Finish Polish: Good
Finish Symmetry: Good
Clarity Grade: VS1
Color Grade: H
Fluorescence: None
Comments: Crown Angles are less than 30 degrees

In looking to sell this diamond, I have a few questions:
How much can I expect to sell this for?
Where is the best place to sell this diamond?
Would I get more value if I traded it and bought another diamond from the same vendor (I am looking to get engaged again soon)?
Any other helpful hints or tips?
I have all of the original receipts, GIA certifcate, appraisals, etc.
I appreciate your help!!!

Here is a thread which addresses this very question.

Since you think you might be getting engaged soon, a trade-in will likely be the best way to go. There is really no way to get back what you paid when reselling, so at least in a trade-in you have something to bargain with.

Please get an idea of the average price of a stone like the one you'll be trading in for before agreeing to the deal. A trick of the trade-in is to increase the price of the stone they're selling you so that your trade is basically nil and they get your stone for practically nothing.

Also, your stone does not have a great cut. Do a little research on cut quality before doing a trade-in.

Good luck!

Well, first off, I suggest you hit the search button in order to find out more about your situation. This topic has been discussed several times and there are different perspectives and points of view.

That said, you have different possibilities: a pawn shop will give you anything between 5% and 20% of the rapaport of this stone (which is in the mid $5K range); on ebay you'll find mainly buyers looking for bargains and steals of the century... But it never hurts to try. Just make sure you're careful: post actual pics and use an escrow service.

Otherwise you can try selling it to a jewelry store (suspect you'll get very little), or, maybe better, selling it on consignement. The latter may be the wisest choice in terms of results. Another option may be selling the stone to the vendor of the next stone you'll buy... He may offer you a slightly higher quote because he's getting your business.

Best of luck selling it!
