On June 12, 1967, 50 years ago, the Supreme Court of the USA overturned Lovings' conviction. It was the landmark case.

Since that time, there has been a steady increase in interracial marriages in the US, currently 1 out of six couples is in interracial marriage, and good that we are moving this way.

But the case, the love, the fight of these courageous woman and man need to be remembered.

The formulations of the initial court and the Supreme Court were very interesting, too. When I heard about the case for the first time, I thought that "Loving" was the name historically assigned to it. So sad that Loving was killed 8 years after the Supreme Court decision in the car accident; the Lovings did not have many years of happiness together. But I hope they were very happy.

This 50th anniversary was celebrated across social media amongst us millenials I was so excited for it. DH and I are both biracial, with parents from different continents. None of our parents are the same ethnicity.

So many of my friends are biracial, and it's incredible to think we could've possibly not existed had the laws still prevented mixing of races.

I think what's more incredible is that there are still people in the world who are racist. People across the world can be morons and horrible people regardless of their skin colour; they should not automatically be put into a box because they are more brown or white than someone else, let them be judged on their actions instead of stereotypes that should have been outdated years ago!

Ethnicity and skin color are hard. There are blatant racists (boo!) and micro-racists who aren't even aware. I constantly need to keep myself in check.
