hello, i have mainly been posting in the colored gems forum but i am hoping to have a sapphire set in the hw-style halo w/micropave. i plan to wear this ring every day. while i do not work with my hands, nor would be be "abusive" with the ring, i have 3 kids so i don't sit at a desk all day, either (in a former life!) anyways, given the delicate nature of the micropave, would you suggest that i go with diamonds all around the band or just 3/4? the diamonds would be set in platinum.

fwiw, my wedding band is a 2 mm eternity band with diamonds all around and it has held up fine (for the past 10+ years!) also, cost is not a consideration in this decision.

thanks for your input!

My personal preference would be to go with 3/4 diamonds. Even though cost is not a factor, it just seems like a waste to have diamonds all round the band when half of it is going to be hidden from view. Also, I find it quite annoying to have something chafing between my fingers, but then I have very sensitive skin and it's really all a matter of what you prefer.

It would definitly be 3/4 way around or even 2/3 for me. I like the idea of easier to resize if ever need be...plus it just seems
like those stones down there would get so dirty :errrr: .

Honestly? Unless you're fully prepared to take on and keep up with maintenance and repairs, it sounds like a bad idea all 'round. The HW halo style is very delicate, and micropave + thin shanks + daily wear = inevitable trouble, the only question is when.

Some people understand the risks and are willing to trade durability for aesthetic, and an educated decision can never be the wrong one. But 3/4 vs full eternity style isn't going to make any difference whatsoever on that front.
