Aug 18, my gf, family members, and I leave on a cruise for the carribean islands. I''ve been dating my gf for the better part of a decade (yes, I know, it''s been a while). I''ve waited for asking the question until I was done grad school and we settled comfortably into our home. Anyways, I think the cruise would be my best oppurtunity to propose...I have a sunset beach stroll going through my mind. Plus, she has no idea it''s coming.
However, this cruise was a last minute thing that we lucked out on getting. So, I haven''t had much time to research. I''ve been trying to scan the forums/tutorials/etc...on this site (and what an amazing site it is!!), to cram in all the information possible. I''ve known about the 4c''s, but I''m not particular on everything else, such as girdle, table/depth, polish, flour.
I''ve casually looked at B&M stores, just to get an idea on size...this is also how I know the gf wants a princess. :)
I like the site engagement rings direct. I haven''t called Mark yet, cause I wanted to get an idea of what is good and what isn''t. I came across this diamond...

Princess

Price range: free (ha!) to $7500 (perfer to keep in low 6''s).
Looking for a great sparkle.

THANK YOU!!!!!

If you are in a rush, I would suggest getting an AGS0 princess cut stone. That way, no further research is needed because AGS has already done the light performance tests for you.

In PC stones, numbers do not help much. ASET and Idealscope pictures will be more helpful in narrowing down the most well cut sparklers.

Here's all I've found:

I'm no good at princesses, but if you call Mark he will hand select one for you. He is FANTASTIC to work with and an all around great guy. I personally wouldn't choose one off his website, let him do the dirty work for you!

He found me a fantastic, gorgeous cushion within days.

Ditto. Just tell him you want an AGS 0 princess and he''ll get you whatever you want. I trust Mark''s eye.

GOG is a great vendor too though.

Hi Sam,

I second what several of the other posters here have said about contacting ERD by phone and ask what they think of the stone, and that it''s hard to say without more cut information, idealscope images, etc. whether this is a well-performing diamond.

Judging by the numbers you''ve given, it looks like you''re looking at a classic-cut princess; that being the case, the fact that the depth and table are pretty close in percentages and that the cutter was able to get very good symmetry indicates to me that you''ve selected a stone with promise. (So see if that promise has been met... you''ll need someone to take a look with their eyes. But it''s looking promising to me.)

Be sure to post a follow-up after you''ve spoken to ERD!

Good luck to you... I am currently dealing with the same thing. Have been with my gf for 10+ years!!
