Good news! I talked to my fiance last night and he said that he thinks it''d be a shame to set such a gorgeous stone in a plain wg setting, which would do nothing for it. SOOOO, he wants me to get what I want. I''ve already received a quote for the Ritani Endless Love without halo, and am waiting for a quote from Leon, but I don''t want to limit my options.

Thus, I need help from the Pricescope community again. How would you set this amazing stone (preferably under $3000)? Feel free to DREAM BIG here everyone!

Thanks for the help in advance!!!

Hi Scarlet!

I would do a Leon platinum solitaire setting like BostonJeff''s for your gorgeous stone! But you know I am a fan of solitaires, so that''s just me!!! Just think of the fun you can have with w-bands though! Plus, I think if you eventually want to upgrade your stone (which I know you do), that may be your least expensive option, but gorgeous at the same time, you know? I love the Ritani, but I think its going to be significantly more $$$....You cant go wrong though!!!

Hi there lady-
I was hoping you''d chime in. Did you end up getting a Ritani for your re-set? And if so, where are those darn pictures you owe us???

Such a yummy diamond!

I love your ideas.. but if I''m allowed to dream big, I''ll have it claw set above a band set all around with pink diamonds. (Droooool!)

I love pink. I love diamonds... and I would put pink and/or diamonds with everything! :)

Can''t wait to see whatever you choose!

Yeaaaa!! Hey stone sista! OH there are so many things to do! I like your FH more and more every time you post about him! He sounds like mine... "Don't waste such a beautiful stone in a bad setting!" OK Honey, whatever you say! LOL!!

I have to say that I am not normally a fan of solitaires, but for some reason Leon's gets me going! It's just so fluid. He actually suggested I do something like BostonJeff's too, I was just afraid that down the road I would get bored. BUT you on the other hand are already talking about an upgrade, so maybe Dani is on to something. You want to keep it reasonable, but gorgeous (obviously!), so you may want to consider it... But I know you tend to like more bling too.... Ok off to get some ideas!
By the way what size fingers do you have bc that thing looks like it is covering a lot of ground!

ETA~ Are you still thinking east west?

I''m thinking an upgrade might not be for 5+ years so why not enjoy what I have now. I honestly just don''t think I''m a simple solitaire girl. If I''m doing a Leon, I feel like I want at least a little bling. And I do still love east/west but I''m not sure if the stone is big enough for it (although kcourselle did a mock up in the old thread and it still looked pretty).

My finger is a 5.75-6. It looks so huge b/c it''s in one of the high temp settings. WISH my fingers were tinier!!!

Lovely stone. I''d put trilliants or half-moons to make it more blingy.

OK, so one of the first rings I ever loved on here was this RING . And THIS woman put a cushion in to it and I fell in love! May not be you thing though, but I just thought it was so beautiful and unique.

I love this Leon for some simple reason...

What's catching your eye? I think that Leon that you originally wanted, the one like Tiger's East West, may be doable!

ETA~ I posted this while you were posting...
I agree with the simple thing, I think his look fantastic, but I just don't think it's me...

After what BrownEyedCountryGirl told us yesterday about her Leon setting price, I think you really may be able to swing it. Seriously talk to him! I think It would look nice East West. It's 1:15 right?
Yah,... and don't we all wish we had size 3 fingers so these things would look 2x's as big!

Noooo! I still have my EC solitaire with pave basket and I still love it! I wear it with the Novo band and my DK band stacked... I know I owe you guys pics...I will try to get them up by the weekend.....

Oh! And I just had an idea! How about setting it in a setting like diamondnut's new Leon setting! OMG, that would be so gorgeous! And you can get the matching band! That would be amazing! What do you think?

Three stone Leon with Half moons or whatever sides he recommends. Plus a little pave in the basket from the side a la ritani.

Al-
That setting has the same feel as my old ring. The problem with it is b/c of the intricate designs on the sides and its height, it was VERY difficult to pair with a wedding band (something I didn''t think of when I was designing the ring).

It is gorgeous though...

Cleo- have you seen this?

If you do something with smaller sides, you might want to consider single cuts because they''ll give you that chunky old school looks because they have fewer facets and thus, perform more like your cushion will.

Personally, I think there''s no more gorgeous cushion setting - assuming the cushion is gorgeous and yours looks to be so - than Boston Jeff''s. That setting is perfection and it allows the magnificent stone to stand on it''s own in all its glory. If you did a solitaire, you could get a blingier wband...Then again, the "Pauly Special" is pretty darn lovely too.

That Mark Patterson is GORGEOUS! But I''m worried about it being so high...however that would also allow a band to sit flush against it. It''s kinda a blend of Tiger''s and Diamondnut''s....hmmm....

I sent Leon a request asking about prices for Tiger''s and Diamondnut''s just to get a basic idea (after seeing browneyedcountrygirl''s pricing). I called him b/c I was so impatient and he said his computer was down and didn''t want to do it off the top of his head so he''s respond w/in a few days.
39.gif
If the prices are somewhat reasonable then I''ll go in and discuss details w/ him. I still like the Ritani but feel like it needs a little something extra.

I do like Diamondnut''s, but the head needs something special. I asked Leon for a quote for both Diamondnut''s and Tiger''s. We''ll see what he says!!! Cross your fingers!!!

I would be curious to know the ballpark cost of diamondnut's setting. I absolutely love it and would consider it for my EC eventually if I dont end up upgrading anytime soon....
2.gif

a cushion, to me, is a soft, vintage-y cut of diamond...so I would go with something vintage looking. Pave, halo, skinny shank....yummy...
3.gif

I was thinking the same thing about the Mark Paterson setting, and I really want to see it in person... I just thinks it''s fantastic!!! Just another option. Good Luck waiting for Leon, I know how hard it is to be patient!! I am so excited for you though. Maybe in the meantime you can find someone who carries the Mark Patterson line and check it out in person...

Surfgirl - I think Tiger''s were single cuts as recommended by Leon, specifically b/c her stone was old...I''d def. do the same. Gotta make sure it looks consistent.

It looks like she got it at Michael C. Fina which is actually right across the street from Mark''s office. Maybe I''ll stop down there next week to take a look. And maybe I''ll bring a picture of that to Leon and see what he says...

Yaaay, you're keeping that beautiful cushion!
36.gif

What about having Leon do something Tiger007g's shank with one row of single cuts along the shank, but with a "scoopy" basket and cathedral setting leading up to the stone like IheartDiamond's beautiful new cushion https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/vintage-cushion-completed.81361/. I love how it shows off a little more of the pavilion than Leon's buttercup basket, and it also reminds me of the DanielK Rosebud setting. .

ETA: For a Leon example of a scooped out style basket, you can also see bem3231's round brilliant

THAT is a GoRgEoUs setting!

Your cushion is absolutely beautiful, scarlet16!!!!!!!!!!!!! BostonJeff''s gorgeous Leon solitaire is probably my pesonal favorite cushion setting I''ve seen, but I understand solitaires aren''t for everyone. Leon would certainly be the person I''d call on to help create your dream setting!

Leon''s quote came in...for some reason he only gave me a quote on Tiger''s ring but it was very, very reasonable ...

Going to set up an appt. in the morning to discuss modifications!!!!

So excited for you, Scarlet!!!! Your setting is going to be gorgeous!!!! If you ever find out the ballpark cost of diamondnut''s setting, can you let me know? Im so curious....

Sure sweetie...I'll ask when I go for my appointment for him. I'm not sure if she wants me to broadcast it about so is there another way to contact you?

ETA: I can tell you his estimate for me was $2350 for labor plus appx. $200-400 for melee. I'd guess it'd be pretty similar, and maybe a little less since the basket is more simple.

I wish there was a way to contact eachother, but I guess not really for now! You can just let me know roundabout price....dont have to say exactly what it is. Ever since I saw her setting, I really have been keeping it in the back of my mind for a possible re-set in the future. I love my ring, but sometimes I want a little more bling, you know?

Hurry up and get your ring so we can plan the NYC get-together, girlie!!!

eta: what kind of design are you thinking of for your ring?

eta: what kind of design are you thinking of for your ring?

I''ll try to get an estimate for you when I talk to Leon.

As for my design, I''d like to keep some surprise, but let''s just say it''s based off of everything we''ve discussed before.

I like to see that Cushion set in a nice pave'' - halo design...I think the setting will only enhance the stone and make it a stunning ring. Enjoy!

Scarlet, that is awesome news!!! I am so excited for you!!! That quote sounds totally reasonable! I can''t wait to hear what he says... When is the apt?

Dani, are you in NYC too? I would love to do a GTG next time I am in the city. There aren''t really any PS''ers in my area except for Legacygirl about 2.5 hours away.

PS... Maybe he will show you the progress on my ring! I''m dying down here!
