How would you set this OMC?

I have this OMC that is very yellow. I want to set it in a rose gold setting that would enhance the color and work as a right hand ring. In its previous settings, it was not very functional bc it needs to be set low. Please share pictures of your ideas. It measures 7 mm by 6.5 in terms of shape.

I would go with a semi-bezel, low set & squared off with the shank since it's a RHR. DBL did one of these for someone else recently with an EC that is just gorgeous. It's a more modern/minimalist look, but really lets the stone stand out.

Do you have pics of the diamond?

How symmetrical is the girdle? Some OMCs are pretty wonky and don't lend themselves well to a bezel (or semi-bezel) cut. Personally, I'd love to someday have a nice OMC set in an old-fashioned belcher setting, probably in a very rich color yellow gold (since rose gold doesn't look that good on me).

Here is a picture of the stone in previous settings. The halo didn't work because it looked like another e-ring and the antique platinum setting didn't work because the platinum didn't enhance the color.

Erika Winters Jin or Iris or Thea in that beautiful rose Gold.

If it very yellow perhaps yellow gold will enhance the color more than Rose? Does it have any undertones because that could affect your choice. But I f truly yellOw then I'd go with YG.

Agreed. It's a pretty OMC! IF it had a rose or peach hint, then I would go with RG, but being it has yellow, I would go YG with it also. I have thought about redoing my LY OMC ("Ginger" - little more yellow/gold color than Nala's) in a two tone style with YG semi bezel to accentuate the yellow in the diamond and really make it pop.

Nana - Do you have any RG laying around you could set it in/on to see how it would look before investing in another setting? Heck, set it on a penny even ... I keep 'scrap' gold pieces in varying colors just for this purpose.

I have to agree that a yellow gold setting would perhaps enhance the color more. So if you have any suggestions for the ideal right hand ring in yellow gold, please share!

I don't know your taste but I love this ring which is in YG. It belongs to Cookie_ tyme and I used it as an inspiration for a 3 stone RHR in rose gold, but perhaps it would work for you

I had mine made by Ilya at Diamond Zone and here is my thread so you can see that he did a great job for me.

Lookinagain, I had not seen your ring. It's perfectly beautiful! :appl:

Yes. I had actually considered a ring like yours! It's lovely! But my stone seems to be less round and more like a cushion, plus the bezeling it (I've tried this) also doesn't work.

Not sure what your tastes exactly are, but I'm finding myself more and more drawn to clean, simple, modern. So I think something like this in YG would be gorgeous, simple and easy/tasteful enough for a RHR any day of the week and twice on Sundays!

This is/was another PSer's ring (hope she doesn't mind me posting it for reference of what I was talking about earlier in this thread), and I absolutely adore it's 'wearever-ability'!

are you opposed to a solitaire setting something like this? You could make it so that you could use it as the central piece in a stack and I think it would look very pretty on your right hand.

I do love this look and that's the problem--I honestly feel that my stone would look better as a solitaire, but then I'm reluctant to wear a solitaire on my right hand. Also, I know stacking would help, but I'd rather not stack on my right hand for comfort reasons.

That Casablanca from CvB is the BOMB! For a RHR, I think that would be completely drool worthy!

so we are looking for a yellow gold setting, no bezel and no halo, am I right? But also not a solitaire. Does your budget allow you to add side stones? Maybe you need to look more at 3 stone settings if you don't want it to look like an e-ring. I think alot of the rings that look more like right hand rings have bezels so am having a hard time finding styles to recommend.

I think you hit the nail on the head. This is why I'm having so much difficulty finding the right setting.

So maybe a three stone with smaller, whiter old cuts flanking in WG, and the center omc in YG? That would be pretty!

I'm considering using this old setting that I have bc it sits low and is super comfy. But it still has the solitaire look which is deterring me. on the other hand, bc it is a light yellow stone, and I have no problem wearing this peridot solitaire, I think I will be fine with it bc it will showcase the stone. I guess my fear is that I don't want it to seem like another ering. Here are the pic.

That is a great suggestion! I'll need to hunt down pictures!

Nala, I really like the setting you posted!- I think the slightly thicker shank makes it look less like an ering, I think it would make a good rhr. If you think about it, I guess it's kind of hard to avoid an ering look entirely when the center stone is a large diamond.

Thanks for your input, Junebug! This is definitely the budget friendly route to go so it's very tempting.
